Cheapest I have found for this drive in Australia is around the $135 price point. Question is how are these compared to other brands? I get concerned with a HDD that is super cheap, since they are a critical part of the media server.

Agreed!  Currently going with either Seagate 3TB NAS or Seagate 4TB NAS drives in my server depending which makes the most economical sense at the time of purchase.
