EmbyParty 14 Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I have a valid certificate A+ and a domain. Now I experience a strange issue. When I connect locally via http or https port I can play whatever movie I want. When I connect with the domain (locally or from extern) I can access all the libraries, but I cannot play any file. The error message is ether "content not available" or playback error. Any ideas what the issue could be?
Luke 42080 Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
EmbyParty 14 Posted June 26, 2023 Author Posted June 26, 2023 (edited) sure: with https://mydomaine.com I get: It makes no difference wether I access from my local network or from outside with https://192.168.0.5(https port) the movie plays. . hardware_detection-63823412285.txt embyserver.txt Edited June 26, 2023 by EmbyParty
EmbyParty 14 Posted June 26, 2023 Author Posted June 26, 2023 This is with the local ip of the server, same movie.
visproduction 315 Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Use this tool to see if port 58555 is working on your workstation when coming in from a remote user. That is a high port number and possibly some browsers may not support it. Remember, do not post your actual remote IP address in this forum. https://www.portcheckers.com/

EmbyParty 14 Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) The server was fully up. Tested several times. As for the port. I checked it and it is open. Internal and external https port are not the same. So external ports gets forwarded to a different port on the server. This configuration was working for quiete some time without issues. Luke 42080 Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 When the error occurred can you please capture the contents of the browser debug console? Thanks.
EmbyParty 14 Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 debugger shows: error loading item: [object Response] and mysite.com/web/item/item.js:1:78445

EmbyParty 14 Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 I get: failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 ()
EmbyParty 14 Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 Yes nginx reverse proxy. There might be a problem with that didn't occur before. I'm still trying to finde what the issue is. I will post also in the proxy manager forum...
Luke 42080 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Did you find anything? Have you compared your reverse proxy setup to this?
Luke 42080 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Here's what I can tell you so far. You're seeing 403 forbidden responses in the browser, but these are not present in the server log. That tells me the proxy is sending back this response, so I would try to find out why that's happening.
Solution EmbyParty 14 Posted June 29, 2023 Author Solution Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) I found the culprit. I had this ruleset activated in my reverse proxy: https://github.com/coreruleset/coreruleset Once deactiveted it worked again. So it blocked normal traffic as it was an attack.
