RexKwondo 1 Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 I just setup Emby and it's working great on Unraid with a sole exception: it's not loading metadata for TV shows. I have episodes going directly into a tv shows folder, where they are seemingly not picked up by Emby at all as shows (they appear only when looking at the folder view). When I viewed them with the metadata manager, I added the show name and tried to refresh the missing metadata, but no dice. I have a few movies loaded and metadata works for those, just not the shows. I assume it's something simple, but I can't figure it out. Thanks for any help, a few images are attached which should illustrate.

Luke 42078 Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 HI, please try using the Identify feature on the series and see if that helps.

Sorry, where do I find that? If I go to Edit Metadata, it has the season and episode number correct, but doesn't load the rest of the data. I manually added the show name and that didn't seem to do anything. Thanks for your help. edit: I don't think it is picking up the shows at all actually, because if I go to Shows, it doesn't display anything. I can only see the files when viewing the Folder. Attached are some images to show what I mean. Edited June 20, 2023 by RexKwondo
Luke 42078 Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Try going into the Shows tab, right clicking on a show, and then Identify.

RoyKent 1 Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 I wanted to add-on to this , as I had the same problems as @RexKwondo. The series in question is "Homicide: Life On The Street (1993)", and it kept pulling metadata from some other series ( ?The Falajweruslka Murders?, something like that), and I couldn't figure it out, and I finally settled on this. 1. I followed the folder structure instructions (Top Level: Homicide Life On The Street (1993) [tvdbid=70727]), and then the subfolders were "Season 1", "Season 2", etc. 2. Then, this is what did it (after all the metadata refreshes kept pulling up the wrong info): Go to metadata manager: Left click on the INCORRECTLY identified series : Go to the upper right of the screen and click on the 3 lateral dots: Choose "Identify": On this screen is where you want to put the (for instance) TVDBID code: for Homicide Life on The Streets its 70727: hit Search (If it doesn't pull the right info, you put in the wrong code) Click on the picture to select the info: Click the box to replace all images if you want, then "OK" at the bottom, then the big info screen pops up: Scroll down to the bottom and, if everything is correct, I'd recommend clicking the "Lock this item to prevent future changes" check box, then "Save" I hope this will help someone in the future! 1
RoyKent 1 Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Well, crap. My beloved Homicide LOTS is always getting reverted to the damned "The Fjallbacka Murders" ,even though I "Identify" the series and then "Lock this item to prevent future changes". Well I guess someone is picking the lock, cause Homicide LOTS gets switched back ever time I refresh metadata. I've read about this happening on the MB forums from a post back in .... 2014? Any thoughts, y'all? PS: In another confounding turn, I also have the 1st season of "Platonic" (2023) and it can "jump into" Season 1 of Homicide LOTS and then when I go to playback I have to choose, within the episode screen, which "version" of Homicide LOTS I want. I'll try to get a screenshot and post here. Maddening! BUt still, I'll try to figure this out cause EMBY is kicking the llamas ass! (and by llama, I mean Plex)(and this is an OLD reference to..... yep, you guessed it, Winamp!)
pwhodges 2012 Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 You mention the correct folder structure; but you don't show your file names. The file name is the usual culprit when multiple episodes get stacked. Also, can you confirm that you have TVDB as the first metadata provider, as you are working with their IDs. Paul
