nulie626 0 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) For the last few years, I've been using Emby for Roku for streaming. The Roku isn't always friendly when it comes to playing (or not playing) some of the HD audio. So I switched over to Android TV more specifically the Shield TV Pro and an Onn Android TV (walmart brand). Both devices works great with no hiccups from Emby. However, I discovered that my collections are not showing up nor is the option available on the Android TV Emby app to "group items in collections" under genre search. Is there a way to fix this? I go to the same place on the Roku and I click on the check box to group items into collections it groups them all into my collections. But this feature is missing in the Android TV app. Please advise. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Emby lifetime member - I love Emby. Plex is evil. Edited June 19, 2023 by nulie626
GrimReaper 4740 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Click three-dots along right screen edge within any library.
nulie626 0 Posted June 20, 2023 Author Posted June 20, 2023 Sadly its not there. It's how it works on the on the Roku, I knew exactly where to go, but there is still no option for collections. Even if I click the three dots.

Considering I use Android TV rather than Roku, I was attempting to find out if my problem was simply isolated to my personal Emby for Android TV apps or if this is a known issue or if it was ever even implemented in the Android TV app at all. Because it works in the other apps, I was hoping someone had an idea of why it wasn't in the Android TV app.
ebr 16184 Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Hi. Yes, but can you tell me exactly where in the app you are navigating to...?
Darkseidd 59 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) I can confirm this. happened to my Android TV client 2.0.83g and 2.0.87g Launch emby > Movie library > At top, go to Genre section (left side of Folders) > Chose one of the category > Nothing listed. this works fine on Android phone and emby web app using emby server 4.8.0.39 beta. this didn't happened on 4.7.11 Edited June 22, 2023 by Darkseidd
nulie626 0 Posted June 22, 2023 Author Posted June 22, 2023 Ebr, sorry misunderstood, I'm slow. Yes, when launching Emby from Android TV: As Darkseidd stated: Launch Emby > Movie library > At top, go to Genre section (mine is to the right)>click 3 dots>no option to group collections.

Those are two separate issues. The first one is related to the beta server. The second one is just that that view in the TV app is not aware of the ability to group. The standard app will be able to do this if you wish to side-load it. However, I think you'll see it may not work exactly like you wish. Because you will see any collection that contains one item of the selected genre but, when you click on that collection, you will see all of the collections contents - not just the ones that satisfy the genre.
nulie626 0 Posted June 22, 2023 Author Posted June 22, 2023 So the primary concern has to do with Android TV app (2.0.83g). So sideloading an updated or downgraded app may or may not have the feature fixed? As for how collection group items even if out of Genre that's not a worry for me. I tend to edit all of my metadata anyways to put it exactly where I want it.
