Hi.  Is this item DolbyVision or HDR and, if so, does the device support that?

Not sure, IMHO not. VLC player play it w/out issues.

Oh, it is an AVI/Xvid file.  It probably needs to transcode.  Try using the "Playback Correction" option on the menu during playback.

Same file playback on Emby for Android Mobile 3.3.07 & Emby Theater 3.0.19 - fine.

On AndroidTv 2.0.83g - not starting. Playback Correction - no effect.

Emby Web 4.7.13.0 - not starting. See no Playback Correction.

All tries in log. No ffmpeg-* files created/left.

It may be a bad source.  I'm wondering how you have a recent item that is encoded in such an archaic format.  How was it created?

Not sure. If so (archaic format) - can close the issue, no worry.

Thanx for Your support.

Just checked couple of recently downloaded videos.

All of them have video codec XVid from build 50 to 73.

At least for this is commonly used codec.

Have one series, where video playback stops on ~30 minutes time, audio continues while video freeze.

Then audio reach EOF and remaining video starts in silence. First & Second episode demonstrate same behavior. Will check others.

When switching from audio AC 5.1 to AC stereo (second track) playback interrupted at different point in time - on minute ~35.

Noticed: when only audio sounds - progress bar on player not moving, but moving later - during video with no audio playback.

Where are these coming from?  There is no reason anything new should be created with those formats.

Starting playback of same file from same Emby server on 4 devices.

All demonstrate Direct Play for Video & Audio streams:

Emby_PB_20230701.png.dd3ab526b28a19b1e7f614bed3c5504e.png

Three fit in screen, Chrome demonstrate same.

Theater & AndroidTv - playback Ok.

Android - freeze on one frame; Chrome on black screen - then both throw "No compatible streams..."  message.

Emby log attached.

Previously had some issue with MKV playback on Xbox - on rare cases.

Starting this summer this is disaster reg. AVI files - like a quarter cases fails to playback on various devices.

IMHO old/archaic/well-known/... codec must be supported well.

Just connected back Xbox One.

As before - issues with some MKV sources, but plays all AVI files, which are not playable on Android & AndroidTv.

Looks cause not in Emby server, but in players software.

P.S. Sadly. Was bought AndroidTv to save some money on electricity, but it usage very limited for me.

He said above that Android TV worked fine and it was the standard app that failed in this instance...

My guess is it is one of those AVI files that needs to transcode.

Can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks.

@Masterz

Hi.  Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares?

https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html

Thanks.

Can you try downloading the latest version of this (3.3.15), and see if it's able to play now? thanks.
