Guest Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 (edited) I noticed the posters for two movies are not loading in the Roku app. They work fine in the web view and the android app. I scrolled through the rest of the movie library today and noticed another movie poster that is now not loading. Tried rebooting the tv (hard reboot not soft) to force the app to unload, no change. Has the app been updated recently? 3 broken posters attached (Drunken Master 1 and 2 which are new, Showgirls which has been in the library and worked in the past but now does not) as well as one working post (Bartleby), in case anyone thinks it might be something about the images themselves. For what it's worth I noticed all three of the broken posters are several hundred KB and the working example is 54 KB so I tried compressing one of the working ones to reduce the file size to under 100 KB and it did not make a difference. Still isn't working. Edited to remove the posters, since I found a workaround. Edited June 15, 2023 by andrewds Removed attachments
Guest Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Correction, after backing out of the app completely and reopening it the poster that I compressed (Drunken Master) is now loading. So, I have a fix for it, which is to compress and re-save the image...but why? File size limit with the Roku app only? Poster not being returned quickly enough to the app (this seems unlikely or remote connections could break completely). Thoughts?
ebr 16187 Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Hi. My guess is that something was wrong with those images and the other app was simply showing cached versions of them. Had they updated recently?
Guest Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Well 2 of them were new moves just added. One has been around for a long time. But, I specifically installed the Android app on a tablet device to see if the images would display there, so there's no way the app had a cached copy of the images.
ebr 16187 Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 Also possible the opposite was true and there were corrupt images in the cache for the Roku. Do you have it all lined out now?
