Kanji in Japanese subtitles show up as Hanzi on both mobile apps.

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum, I'm assuming that because the problem lies on both mobile platforms that the problem has to do with the server. I've attempted to add japanese fonts on both mine and the emby server's font config but it doesn't seem to affect mobile platforms. I've have my Galaxy S22 and my iPad Air's system and emby language in japanese as well.

Hi, can you please show a screenshot example? Thanks.

Certainly, so in this screenshot the character 言 shows up in it's chinese form, an issue that usually shows up on browsers when the font used uses chinese characters by default. It's supposed to not have a little dash at the top but another line. I don't believe Emby on mobile platforms allows for a different font which would be the problem if that's the case. This is the mobile app on both iOS and Android platforms. It seems like the font has limited capability regarding CJK characters.

> Go Noto Current has limited support for CJK -- it offers the full Unihan IICore subset plus more glyphs, so it should work ok-ish for daily use but there can be missing glyphs.

So I did some research on Unihan fonts and I found this similar forum post regarding the same problem happening on Ubuntu systems https://askubuntu.com/questions/280116/why-does-japanese-text-show-up-with-chinese-glyphs

I believe the ideal solution would allow Japanese text to use it's own font (Noto Sans CJK JP is what I use) either through allowing the user to choose a font or simply switching the font when the subtitle is specified as JP.
