Soundchasr 19 Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I have seen this asked in the past and saw that it was being looking into... Is there a way to hide certain medial libraries from the home screen or the My Media section? For example, I have media that I watch when I'm in the Gym. I don't need those to be listed on the other TVs. Thanks for any tips.
Luke 42248 Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 HI, have you explored the home screen options for your emby user?
Soundchasr 19 Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 Hi @Lukeyes I haven't found anything that hides or removes libraries.
pwhodges 2035 Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 You could do it by user - have a different user for the gym with access only to the libraries you want there. Paul 1
Soundchasr 19 Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 @pwhodgesGreat idea. I'll give it a shot.
Soundchasr 19 Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 @pwhodgesOk. I've created the new user (Gym). What is the best way to do this? I don't see a way to have only specific libraries for each user. Should I create the library and then restrict the users ability to see the library?
Luke 42248 Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Quote Should I create the library and then restrict the users ability to see the library? That's your choice depending on whether you want to restrict them completely, or still allow them access but take it off of the home screen.
Solution Soundchasr 19 Posted June 13, 2023 Author Solution Posted June 13, 2023 @LukeAh, so I can remove it from the home screen. I missed that. 1
ryanfiller 0 Posted Wednesday at 06:13 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:13 PM Okay, but HOW do we actually do that? I don't see anything on the `/web/index.html#!/settings/homescreen.html` page that allows me to do this at all...
Luke 42248 Posted Wednesday at 06:59 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:59 PM The upcoming 4.10 server release will have a plethora of new options to hide libraries from home screens.
ryanfiller 0 Posted Wednesday at 08:53 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:53 PM I'm just confused, the rest of this post from years ago is talking like there is already some way to do this?

The rest of this post discusses making a new user just for the gym, and only having what libraries will be used while at the gym, available. That's it, that's all. This is what I am trying to do, and seemingly have no way to do. Let a user still access a library but not see it on the home screen.

Quick example from My Media Now this unchecked library can only be access via side Navbar or search.
ryanfiller 0 Posted Thursday at 03:13 PM Posted Thursday at 03:13 PM Great, thank you. I was able to update to the latest beta and find this. I don't know if this is the correct place to offer beta feedback, but here it is — I just went to a user and removed all the libraries I didn't want them to see. Then I went and made a new library, and it showed up on their home screen. I would think this should be opt into visible by default rather than the way it is now? Or am I missing another setting somewhere?
ryanfiller 0 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago (edited) Hmm, seems like this works on the native and web apps but not on the Apple TV app. Edited 18 hours ago by ryanfiller
pwhodges 2035 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago The facility is a recent addition to the beta server, and not all clients have been updated to understand it yet. Paul

It's opt out because otherwise what will happen is users will add new libraries and then they won't know why things are not showing up in various sections such as latest, continue watching, etc.
