Choppy Performance on Emby Client for Android TV on 9.0

Here's the situation...

I have a DuneHD Ultra Vision 4K device that's pretty much supposed to handle pretty much anything I throw at it...

It's not working out this way.

Sound is perfect, playback is super choppy....

Files work perfectly on Emby for Android on Shield...

Unfortunately, I don't know how to pull the logs from the DuneHD, but has anyone run into this???

Is it HDR, DV, or is it a Hybrid HDR/DV?  It sounds more like your video is being transcoded.  What does the playback on the server say?

It's just HDR/DV.  No recording.

I thought it was transcoding as well, but it claimed straight playback.

I have transcoding turned off... could the beta somehow be ignoring the setting???

Luke,

My apologies - I ended up in the hospital.

I'm not ignoring you.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the Dune is going to be running a custom version of Android 9 - I'd be surprised if it played DV without issues via the Emby Android TV App - as that will be using the standard passthrough methods.  the Shield will also be using a DV 'license/certification' that will probably not exist on the Custom Android OS - Only the HD Dune Linux OS...

I presume the Dune plays back that file ok with it's own native player (ie via a file share or dlna ?)

You are absolutely correct - the Internal version plays fine, but their catalogue system is not very good.
The Emby presentation is much better.

The weird part is that the custom ATV 9.0 being used actually shows the passthrough options in System Settings....

It looks like the Shield settings, however, there are 4 additional settings for finer control of audio and video...

You had mentioned Linux underneath....

Do you know of any way to tap the Linux directly and install Emby there, instead of via ATV???

I had heard of a few limited Linux capable OS's specific to streaming - I think they were called minimal OS's...

Can figure out if they would work to resolve this.

Interesting, I haven't tried to turn it back on.

I figured if it worked on the Shield without any issue, it should certainly work on a much higher end box...

Maybe that was a bad assumption.

I'll give it a try when I get back home just as a troubleshooting step.

I will, however, say that Kodi on the ATV (Dune ATV 9.0 version) detected the TV as dolby vision capable - in other words, the EDID exchange seemed to work....

Thank you fro the suggestion!
