EyeShore 2 Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 (edited) Sorry if there's a resource I'm missing or better place to ask, but trying to figure out how the heck Emby is matching certain files to certain episodes and how to fix it. In this case, show is "I've got a secret". And the mappings are, for example: File: I've Got a Secret - S06E02 - Paul Newman - 1956-10-03 Emby: (Season 6) 3. Paul Newman File Emby Comment I've Got a Secret - S06E02 - Paul Newman - 1956-10-03.mp4 (Season 6) 3. Paul Newman I've Got a Secret - S06E04 - Orson Welles - 1956-10-10.mp4 (Season 6) 5. Don Ameche I don't have an episode 5 or a Don Ameche I've Got a Secret - S06E06 - Bud Collyer - 1956-10-31.mp4 (Season 6) 7. Robert Young I've Got a Secret - S06E07 - Robert Young - 1956-11-14.mp4 (Season 6) 8. Art Linkletter ...The files match TheTVDB. It looks like both Emby has shifted each episode # by 1, but also has the wrong episode names in some case. I've tried rescanning library and refreshing metadata, but no change. Removed from library and re-added, same thing. Not sure where the above mappings came from (I can't imagine it's the dates in the episode names throwing things off...?), but the whole season (which I have about half the episodes for) is like this. Any ideas? Edited June 9, 2023 by EyeShore
Luke 42083 Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Hi, try using the metadata editor to correct the season and episode numbers for each episode. Then after doing that, then try refreshing the metadata.
EyeShore 2 Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Thanks Luke. I can do that, but I'd like to understand what went wrong here, especially when these things happen again in the future, or for anyone else that might run into the same issue.
EyeShore 2 Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Well, strangely I removed the episodes, re-scanned library files; re-added, rescanned (because I was trying to capture logs, since logs had wrapped since I did this last)...And now they're showing up correctly. Maybe there was bad info being returned from Thetvdb/something when I did this last? If that's the case - is there a way to refresh the episode data without removing/re-adding? This is what "Refresh Metadata" is supposed to do, right?

This is what "Refresh Metadata" is supposed to do, right? It is, yes, but refreshing without making any changes will often just lead to the same result you had before. Since the original problematic data is gone now, it will be hard to answer why it got like that in the first place, so just let us know if you run into it again. Thanks.
