No audio in web app

Hello:

I have no audio with a specific movie in Firefox nor Chrome. In Theatre and FireTV app sound is ok.

Firstly I though it was a EAC3 decoder problem, so I converted the movie audio track to AC3 with same result.

I have attached 3 nerd statistics:

1 -> Firefox with original EAC3 track -> no sound

2 -> Firefox with converted AC3 track -> no sound

3 -> Emby Theatre with original EAC3 track -> sound ok

¿Why emby is transcoding to Firefox but no to Theatre?

Hi, the reason is right in your screenshot from the stats feature in the video player. Did you see that?

I've added basic stats in the image. I hadn't upgraded Emby server in a while and was several versions behind. Now after updating, suddenly audio no longer works for a large percentage of files in the web app. Why is the audio not being transcoded to something browser compatible if this is an issue? Emby is installed properly, up to date, along will all dependencies. AAC Stereo plays fine btw.

@30000

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Hi Luke,

First of all, Thank you!

Attached is a server log. and the ffmpeg log. Seems AC3 and EAC3 are the codecs with playback issues. Is there an option to force transcode to AAC codec? I don't know if this will be helpful, but the AC3 and EAC3 codecs play fine in each of the instances of the Emby app I use on different devices.

Sigh. After a bit more checking, This on only an issue in Linux. Just tried on Windows and MacOS, and there don't seem to be any issues with any codecs during browser playback.

I have to get back to writing the code I need to have finished today for my own job, but I will investigate more after and post back here with anything useful I may find.

And seriously, thanks for responding so quickly Luke!

You’ve restricted audio transcoding permission from your user.

I have it enabled in all user profiles. Is there another location where transcoding can be toggled?

Just the user configs as the log show Emby user with it disabled.

        Enable Video Playback Transcoding: True
        Enable Audio Playback Transcoding: False
