AvalonSparks 0 Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I am not technical. Just became a new member, although I did not receive the email to confirm membership (I have a @yahoo.com email). I downloaded the EMBY ap on my iPad and Firestick for TV. I can log in. Then it asks me to enter a server address. I entered 192.168.1.100 and also tried Https//myserver.com, the Port was already filled out and it's 8096. On both the firestick and ipad I keep getting "Connection Failure" we are unable to connect to the server right now, Please ensure it's running and try again" messages. I logged into my router and changed the firewall settings to "NONE" and security settings to the LOWEST option available, and tried again, same error message. I'm not sure I have a server - not sure what that means. I have WIFI (Verizon FIOS) and a router. I plan to access a relative's platform, do I need to put their IP address in? Please help me figure it out because I did not have this issue with my Plex account. I have looked through the message boards and help docs and can't figure it out. Also note, I even tried signing up again with a gmail account today, and again it said I would receive a confirm email to activate, but I never received that email either. Not in the SPAM boxes either. Can I not acess the 192.168.1.100 server because I never activated with the email link (which I did not receive)?

The "server" is where you put your media which you want to access using Emby. If you don't have a server of your own, perhaps you are intending to access as friend's server - in which case, ask them for the address. Note that Emby does not provide any media - they are a software company, not a streaming service. I'm not even sure what you think you are a "member" of... And as for "192.168.1.100", that would be a local address on your own network, so is not an useful thing to try. As for "https://myserver.com", that's just a placeholder for you to replace with the address of your server, or whatever server someone is giving you access to. Paul
GrimReaper 4749 Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Quote Emby is NOT a media streaming service. We provide no content. Emby is a Personal Media Server platform. You must have your own server installed and your own media (or Live TV tuner). Have a read here: https://emby.media/support/articles/Quick-Start.html
