justinrh 260 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 Yesterday, before the .12 patch was applied to the server, my admin acct had 'allow pin on LAN' but today after the patch that option is not set. I have been using my PIN before this patch. I don't remember my password! If it weren't for a cookie in my browser I wouldn't be able to get in! Now, how do I recover since I don't remember my password to reset it? Can I set the PIN option back and continue to use it? (I'm afraid to change the acct because I don't know for sure what will happen.)
darkassassin07 652 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 (edited) If you are currently logged in: create a new user, give that user admin privileges, then login as that user and you can now remove the password for the original admin user and set a new one. (you have to do this as a different user, even with admin privileges you can't remove your own password, but you can remove the password from another admin user without knowing their password ) /edit my mistake, you have to remove the admin privileges of the old user, remove their pass, then re-grant admin. You can't remove an admins pass at all. Edited May 26, 2023 by darkassassin07 1
justinrh 260 Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 It turns out I had somehow set my pwd to be the same as my PIN sometime after I created my acct. @softworkzwhy did my PIN stop working after the patch was applied? Only because you set the sign in mode to 'require pwd'? If the PIN option is set, does that imply 'require pwd'? It seems the PIN and pwd requirements should be separated to avoid the ambiguity?
