Ignore specific items from being scanned...

How can I add a directory to a library but then also indicate that I would like a subdirectory of that directory to not be scanned/added to the media library?

Alternatively, is there some way to process DVDs that actually works and does not generate a bunch of random files scattered throughout my media library instead of a single movie folder that simply "doesn't play" (or even better, does)?

Is there a way to prevent specific files or file extensions? Like can you tell it not to include any .m3u files in a music library?

I know this is a late reply. I messed with DVDs extensively and was never happy with it. I ended up just using handbrake.

Doesn't really answer your question, maybe just more commiserating.

I don't really have many DVDs and I'd probably do the same. It doesn't seem reasonable to stream a DVD or blu-ray across the network to a typical streaming device with emby. It would need more controls than it has built into it or specifically the ability to handle the menus and whatnot.

My biggest issues currently with library management are with ignoring a folder that contains a DVD/Bluray rip (which I guess the .ignore folder does but this seems clunky) and having the ability to not scan specific types of files (like playlist files, nfo files, etc) because there are other things that are stored in the data folders for MY organization that I don't want to delete but I don't want them screwing up my emby library!

There really needs to be SEVERAL ways to ignore files or delist them from the scans. Like in the settings for a media library there should be settings for "ignore all files with these extensions" "ignore these folders" "ignore folders containing these files" "ignore these specific folders" "ignore these specific files". It seems like it would be pretty trivial to me to just 'not index' something that was in a provided list? Feature request?
