Reenabling subtitles in LG TV app does not work

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

When play a video file with (h265 + VobSub subtitles) from my Synology NAS on my LG TV (C1), Emby uses transcoding to burn in the subtitles. I assume this is due to the TV not supporting the subtitle format. If I disable the subtitles, Emby correctly switches back to direct playback. However, from that point on it is not possible to reenable the subtitles again without completely restarting playback. The setting has no effect and playback never (10+ minutes) switches back from direct to transcoding.

Why did you uncheck it in the first place?

@PaFe93I think your problem is different.
a) The burning in of subtitles works for me
initially. It is only after disabling them once that I cannot enable them again.
b) I never disabled "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly"

I See the following (see screenshots):
First, subtitles are enabled and are burned in (state a1 and a2)
Then, I disable subtitles and embed switches to direct play (state b1 and b2)
Last, I try to reenable subtitles but it does not work (state c1 and c2)
