billneftleberg 3 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 the Television Show "DC" which aired on the WB network in 2000 keeps defaulting to a japanese anime called DaCapo imdb has it here https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0202724/ how can I force emby to recognize the correct program? when I use Identify under the imdb tab the right picture comes up but then emby defaults to DaCapo how can I overide this glitch
GrimReaper 4749 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 2 hours ago, billneftleberg said: how can I overide this glitch It ain't a glitch but the fact that TVDB, which is likely your TV show library top preferred provider, doesn't have that show listed at all. TMDB does, though. So, put TMDB on top of your meta-providers in library settings, name your folder: D.C. (2000) [tmdbid=9495] Scan media library. Lock the item once scraped, revert TVDB on top afterwards.
pwhodges 2012 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 As it's such a short show, another option would be to add it to TVDB yourself... I've done that with a couple of shows myself, and it's quite satisfying to solve a problem for everyone. Paul
Luke 42083 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 HI, can you please attach the emby server log from when it was first imported? Thanks.
jkramer 12 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 You can Identify it with IMDB. tt0202724 is the important part from the url. Find the "Identify" setting for the entire series by right-clicking the series thumbnail >> Identify >> then enter that for the IMDB ID.
billneftleberg 3 Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 here is the server log embyserver.txt
pwhodges 2012 Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Giving the IMDB id doesn't help if TVDB is your main series source, because TVDB doesn't have the series. Either follow the instructions given earlier by GrimReaper, or add it to TVDB yourself (there are only four episodes that were aired). Paul 1
pwhodges 2012 Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Hey, I added it to TVDB for you. I didn't go as far as listing the staff and actors, though - you can update it further if you want. Paul 1
GrimReaper 4749 Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 We should form a new member group for you, Paul: Samaritan. Just to add, @billneftleberg, it might take up to 24hrs for TVDB cache to be updated/show metadata to be returned.

Paul I was referring to the odd time I have to manually ID something the normal providers screw up. Never had the IMDB manual system fail. [edit] and it happens very infrequently. pwhodges 2012 Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Emby doesn't use IMDB at all (costs too much); if you provide its id, that is included in the lookups in the other providers. And TVDB wasn't exactly screwing up, as it simply didn't have the information (does now) - and because it tries to get the nearest match, it couldn't tell you! Paul
Luke 42083 Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Right that’s why I suggest using the identify feature with the tvdb id instead.

pwhodges 2012 Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Sure - but in this instance identifying didn't help, because there was no metadata available at TVDB - the OP did identify it, and it still failed. Anyway the matter to irrelevant in this case now as the data is available. Paul
