Single Episode Not Loading Into Emby

I have a weird problem going on. First, some background.

I have a LARGE video library, with over 100 TV shows and thousands of movies. I add new content daily, and while Emby normally monitors folders for changes, I usually do a manual reload (by choosing Scan Library Files) after the new content has been added. Most of my names were set when I used Plex, and I continue following those naming conventions for consistency. Emby has always done a fantastic job of identifying everything properly.

I'm having a problem with a single episode not loading into Emby. It's Rick and Morty S06E10. The episode is listed correctly at thetvdb.com, so that's not the problem. The other episodes of season 6 are loading properly, yet this single episode refuses to load. Normally, Emby adds an nfo file to the folder where the episode is after it scans the episode. But Emby has not added an nfo file to the folder, meaning it hasn't even tried adding this episode.

Again, I'm only having a problem with this one episode out of thousands

As you can see, the rest of the episodes have loaded into Emby just fine. It's only this one episode that's a problem.

Its not marked hidden in the file system, right?

Try this - 

- Move the episode somewhere outside of Emby's "vision"
- Run a library scan
- Move the file back in place
- Run another library scan

Then attach the server log out here.

No, it's not hidden. But your suggestion is interesting.

I moved the mp4 and srt of S06E10 out of the Cartoons folder and did a rescan. Then I took a look at Emby, and now S06E09 is missing from Emby!!!! Something is very, very wrong!

I'm going to move the entire season out of Emby and rescan.

Now season 6 is gone, and the previous 5 seasons are correct. So now I'm going to add all of season 6 back and rescan.

You're not going to believe this. After moving all of season 6 out of Cartoons, rescanning, then adding season 6 back into Cartoons, and rescanning again, now S06E10 is there, but S06E09 is missing!!! I don't understand what's going on at all.

As you can see, It loaded S06E09. I now have banners and nfo's for all the episodes in season 6. Yet S06E09 is still missing from the viewer.

I see the problem. It's mis-identifying S06E09 as S06E08:

Notice that the episode is identified as S6:E8 by Emby (at the top of the screen), yet the file is named S06E09 (as seen at the bottom of the screen. This is the only problem I have in my entire collection using Emby. And I've no idea why this is happening.

My apologies everyone. I was missing S06E06 in my collection. You can see this in my original post. This confused Emby and caused the problem. I will add S06E06, and I'm sure this will fix it.

Jeez. I added S06E06 but it didn't fix the season. So I moved S06 out of the Cartoons, rescanned, added S06 back to Cartoons, and scanned again. That didn't fix it. But it did change the episode that was being identified incorrectly!

Now S06E07 is missing from Emby! That is, S06E01 through S06E06 are correct, S06E07 in my collection is missing from Emby, and S06E08 in Cartoons is identified as S06E07 in Emby. S06E09 is identified as S06E08, S06E09 is missing from Emby, and S06E10 is correctly identified.

Hmm whats up with folder name : Rick and Monty [2013-] 

Try without that dash [2013] or (2013)

And here again Season 06 [2022]

Try without [2022]

And file name : Rick and Monty (2006) - S06E10 - bla bla

This naming convention is what I use for all my TV shows. The [2013-] means it started in 2013 and has not ended yet. When it ends, I update the folder name to include the end year. The (2006) is supposed to be the first year of the show. That gets set by an app I use that gets the episode names from TheTVDB. TheTVDB has 2006 as the start date for the show for some reason, yet the first episode is in 2013.

I see no reason why this should be renamed since ALL my TV shows are named the same, and they have no problems. Even Rick and Morty has no problems for the first 5 seasons, and all the episodes are named like this. So if there was a problem with the naming, the other seasons would have had problems too.

What you could try to do is move the series folder completely out of your library, then run and complete a scan of all libraries to clean out the database. Then add it back, but making sure to delete any nfo files under that series folder first.

I'm not sure what the purpose of reloading folders that are working perfectly. But deleting the nfo's before putting them back is probably the best idea. I'll try that just on this season. Thanks for the idea.

Hallelujah! I moved the season 6 folder out of Cartoons then rescanned. Then I deleted the jpg's and nfo's in the folder, leaving only the mp4's and srt's. Then I moved the folder back into Cartoons. Now all 10 episodes are showing properly for season 6 in Emby. Thanks everyone for their help, but especially @Lukefor his excellent idea.

As a side note, I'm really pissed at myself. I should have known to delete the nfo's before I rescanned. Thanks again for everyone's help!
