gene0915 42 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 In Plex, there is a PhotoTranscoder folder that is massive in size and keeps stuff like all the covert art needed for every device that accesses your Plex server (and God knows what else in there). That Plex folder on my server is 40+ gigs. I'd like to move it to a spindle drive but configuring cache folders in Plex is impossible from within the GUI and you must rely on hacks to do so. I'm working on taming this problem and was wondering if Emby suffers from the same issue or is it more efficient at caching stuff? Guessing not since you can easily specify the cache folder in Emby and when I look, the cache folder is only 600'ish megs for the same TV shows and movies. However, the majority of the folks accessing my media use Plex vs. Emby so I wonder if I force people to Emby, will the Emby cache start rapidly expanding in size?
ebr 16184 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Hi. Our cache is configurable and it expires on a schedule so we don't keep things around forever.
