Android TV player (Onn 4k) not displaying thumbnails when FFwd/Rew

Cross-post from Reddit r/Emby since it says only mods can see it. While I have great confidence in the mods, I also value input from the larger community....

So just got one of the new Walmart Onn 4k streamers to replace my Roku Ultra which is aging out. However, when playing recordings from the Emby app, the thumbnails are not displaying to help me know when I've skipped to the right place. Is this some obscure setting I'm just not finding, or is it a limitation with the Android TV / Onn platform?

I can push "up" on the dial pad and see the chapter images, but I don't want to jump a chapter at a time....

I'll add that the thumbnails play properly on other players (i.e.; in the browser, on the Samsung smart tv app(Emby for Samsung 1.4.8)) but not on the Emby app on the Onn from the Play Store (version 2.0.83g).

Its actually the Roku that is the odd bird.  They are the only ones I know of that send you straight into "trick play" mode with a single click.
