Advice Please - EMBY APP expiration (30 days) on Samsung TV

Hey Emby I just need some advice.

I live in New Zealand and I just purchased a new Samsung Art Frame TV.

I've loaded the Emby App on it but to my understanding this will expire in 30 days due to Samsung's "policies" and I will need to reload this.

Is there any other way to stop this happening as it will be a pain.  I think I read somewhere if I change my TV region to USA this wont happen but I'm not sure it that breaks other things?

I dont use any other apps (netflix or streaming services) so wondered how to best deal with this.

Is Emby for Samsung TV coming to the official Samsung store soon?  I seem to have read that you're working on this?

Cheers for any advice

Rob

Changing the app region doesn't break anything.   The region only determines which apps are available to you in the Samsung store.  So, if you change the region to US or UK then you will be limited to apps available in those areas and lose the ability to load any apps which are specific to NZ.  However, if you don't run any other apps from the store then that shouldn't affect you.

Changing your region will also reset all other settings.

Not sure where Emby is on getting the app released in all regions, but you can always change your region back if/when it gets there.  The first Tizen TV was released in 2015.

There is a version on GitHub from about 3 years ago which was compiled before the policy change if you wish to run that.   I believe it has the warning, but it won't expire.

Thanks Frostbyte much appreciated. - question on the older app without the expiration.

(1) Is it functionally limited in that I mean will it play all the recent formats and run the same as the most recent app?

(2) If it's not too much trouble could you please send a link to that so I dont get that wrong?

Thanks again for the help

I think this is the one.  Let me know.

I haven't tried this one in several months, so can't remember what's missing.  I'm sure there are a lot of missing features, but playback should work for the most part.  Eventually there will be so many changes with server though that it may not function correctly at all.  You can of course delete and reload the latest.

The only issue I'm aware of though is that it will nag you that it is outdated, but it won't seize to function like the newest because Samsung hadn't started adding that feature yet.

If interested here is a youtube video another user made on changing regions.

Hopefully Luke will eventually be able to get the app added to the Samsung store WW though.
