nomatches4mikey 8 Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I just setup a new Hisense ULED U7 with Google TV. The first thing I do is install the Emby app. I often have HD and UHD versions to select from in case I'm watching from a phone or a big screen. I'm not able to select from the versions on the Google TV app. I have an Nvidia Shield that I've been using for years, and multiple version selection works fine on it. I started a test at 9:10pm EDT 5/9/2023 and sent the log from the app at 9:16pm EDT. The user logged in is "Kids". I selected Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Normally there are two versions available, "HD" and "UHD", but the Google TV app doesn't show the Version menu. The Video is listed as 1080p, and the audio and subtitle options available are the ones associated with the HD version. I selected the English PSGSUB subtitle. I selected "Play" from the movie information page. After skipping through the three movie intros, the movie started (2023-05-09 21:13:58.233). I turned on Stats for Geeks. It showed the movie was transcoding. Thanks for your help, let me know if you need more information or testing. UserAgent: Dalvik/2.1.0 (Linux; U; Android 11; SmartTV 4K FFM Build/RTT2.211209.001)
nomatches4mikey 8 Posted May 10, 2023 Author Posted May 10, 2023 Additional log sent 10:04pm EDT 5/9/2023. I switched to the "Adults" user and again selected Wakanda Forever. This time the version selection DID show on the movie page.
nomatches4mikey 8 Posted May 10, 2023 Author Posted May 10, 2023 I recreated the issue using the Web interface. It appears this is an issue with user settings, not the hardware/app. I'll do some more testing, I suspect it could be something in the parental controls, since I'm not sure what else would be different between the two users.
nomatches4mikey 8 Posted May 10, 2023 Author Posted May 10, 2023 OK so I have 2001 A Space Oddyssey in SD, HD and UHD. The movie is rated G, but I didn't want it to show on the Kids movie pics, so I set a custom rating of PG-13. All three versions shows on the Adults user, but only SD and UHD on the Kids user. This is the reverse of Black Panther, where the movie is rated PG-13, but I set a custom rating of G so it would be available under Kids. The Little Mermaid has an SD and UHD version, and both versions show for both users; this movie is rated G, with no custom rating set. It looks like the custom rating is only applying to one version of the movie.

Current workarounds: You can manually split the versions to edit their custom ratings individually, then rejoin. If you use nfos, you can also edit the custom ratings for each version in their nfo files. 1
