Stiversont 5 Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I am not an expert but I have now successfully setup in truenas Core 13 a jail running Open VPN on my VPN provider. After many headaches and editing my VPN providers config to remove deprecated commands it's finally successfully connecting and I've confirmed it is a new IP. My goal was to use my VPN for Emby server to prevent complaints or throttling from my Internet provider and former cable provider because I signed up for an IPTV provider. My thoughts were that now that openvpn is working in this jail I can just manually install Emby server in the same jail and viola VPN coverage. Is it that simple? or do I need to/should I setup a new jail, install emby server and then point it to my VPN jail. That sounds a bit harder. Appreciate any insight/advice from anyone more knowledgeable than I...which is many but hey I'll take the Openvpn configuration win!
Luke 42077 Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 Hi, did you figure this out? @dgrigodo you have any tips?

I did some research on having the Openvpn jail be the standalone jail that I route a separate Emby IPTV jail through and I wasn't confident I understood what I was doing with following those instructions so I just installed Emby in the same jail as Openvpn and it shows the New IP on the dashboard so it's definitely working. I've only found one time Openvpn stopped so I think I'm missing an autoreconnect command in the config but other that that single occurrence all working smoothly. Off topic just slightly is there a way to open the Channel Guide XML and manually edit the channels I want to show in the guide vs clicking off each button separately? I'm using the native IPTV live TV m3u settings for the Guide and streams. Thanks for checking.
pctravel 3 Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 (edited) There was one other odd item. I first setup the current Beta version of Emby server for Freebsd and everything worked fine except the live TV option I could see for just a second on the home page and then the movies overtyped it. couldn't access. I ended up installing a new Openvpn jail and installed the current release version and all working fine. (I did save my emby premier key and it confirmed it was accepted) Edited May 13, 2023 by pctravel 1
