Darkseidd 59 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 hi, I wanna ask regarding Dolby Vision media on emby (or Android TV, using TCL Qled TV) when I play DoVi media on emby at my android TV, it works fine. Dolby Vision logo triggered properly. but when i Pause the movie and try to resume, it just doesn't work. At server can see the progress ongoing, but at TV, black screen and no audio. using "Fix Playback" will make both A/V appear, and but jittery and very dim screen. Then I enable the use of external player VLC, it can play the movie fine, pause resume also fine but a little jittery. but using VLC external player, it didn't trigger Dolby Vision logo but only HDR10+ logo. my question is, what kind of external player can trigger Dolby Vision properly for Android TV? As of now I know that, VLC can't trigger Dolby Vision at my Android TV.
Luke 42079 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.
rbjtech 5284 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Also what version of Android TV are you running?. If the Release version (2.0.77 - then this has not been updated since June last year .. ) The latest is 2.0.87 which has many player enhancements - you'll need to side load. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42240-emby-android-tv-release-notes-beta/

DV is unfortunately very convoluted and you need to have a certain type of file to playback on certain equipment. I believe Apple TV is ok with DV5 files (MP4,TS or M2TS container only), but DV8 needs Infuse. DV7 should fallback to HDR. Edited May 4, 2023 by rbjtech
