Dreamweaver_ 2 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Hi, I have seen a similar thread some time ago in the forum having the same issue and I searched high and low, but can’t find it. Anyways, I added the Trailers plugin and wanted to edit the image on the Trailers card on the homepage with a pic that has a transparent background. One will notice that on the image edit page the primary and thumb sections the image is not rendered with a transparent background but with a black background. However, any other media, such as movies, music, videos etc. have no issue with editing the primary and thumb sections with an image having transparency background. Can someone please provide me, preferably, with a custom CSS code to target those two areas to make the correction.

Luke 42083 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Hi, your best bet is going to be to make sure that both have a 16:9 aspect ratio because our displays are based on that. If you do that, then you can just cover the entire image container.
Dreamweaver_ 2 Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 Hi Luke, I don't follow you. In my mind it's not about the aspect ratio (16:9), but rather the editing page turns the pic’s transparent background into black for the trailers’ container (primary), but the exact same spiral pic’s transparent background does not turn black when I upload it for other media (primary) container such music, video etc., how does that happen? If you look at the two images that I attached, you will notice that I uploaded the same spiral image for the “primary” section in the one image and it is black, but the other image the “primary” section the spiral pic is transparent. The editing page only turns the pic’s background black for the trailer’s plugin.
Luke 42083 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 I can't think of anything that would cause a black square like that rather than filling the entire width of the container. We don't even have a black background, rather, it's a bit lighter than that and easier to distinguish. I'm guessing you'll say differently but it looks to me like the black might be baked into the image.
Dreamweaver_ 2 Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 Yes, but it begs the question, why does the one image have black attached and the other image none, in the same place on the edit page, using the same spiral image in both cases. I remained baffled. It may have something to do with the plugin. I’ll send you a screenshot of my homepage, you see the trailers plugin (card container) and it is the only one that has a black background, although the background to the pic (the pic is square) is transparent. If I take the movie trailer pic at the bottom of the screenshot and upload it to any other container on this homepage then it will not have any black attached to it.
Dreamweaver_ 2 Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 I have uploaded the trailer's pic to two other media containers, as you can see the same movie trailer image does not have any black background color attached to it in those places.
Dreamweaver_ 2 Posted May 15, 2023 Author Posted May 15, 2023 Hi Luke, I have deleted and uploaded the same pic a few times. I also experimented a few ways by signing in as a different user and uploading the pic, I used both the web and theater clients and the result is the same, I cleaned out my custom CSS and tried a default setting of Emby web, nothing helped. As I said before, the problem is not unique to me, some other user also had the same issue but there was no solution in the forum/thread. Unfortunately, I could not trace that post a few days later. There are three images below, and all three pertain to the Trailers card/container. The first image shows the seven upload locations using the same pic which has a transparent background layer. The second image shows the elements for the uploaded pic to the Primary location, and the third image shows the elements for the Logo location. Both show there are no differences in the computed elements, neither the Styles that I can see, yet the Primary location has a solid black background, and the Logo location a transparent background. The upload of the same image or any other pic with a transparent background layer to the seven locations are perfect for any other media type. I have a choice, either I uninstall the trailers plugin, or I can use a round-about way, which is to upload a pic only to the Backdrop location of the Trailers card/container – that works for now. Sad though.
seanbuff 1318 Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 FWIW, I cannot reproduce this in beta server. Loading transparent png on the Trailers library primary image works fine, transparency intact.

I’ll live with a short-term solution I have and wait and see if someone has an answer and/or see if it corrects itself over time and/or wait for the next release of an Emby stable version, including a possible update of the Trailers plugin. 1
