Karsta62 3 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 emby server version 4.7.11.0 on ubuntu 22.04 Just bought emby premiere for a year to get Live TV and Android auto (a separate issue). A mistake. I did not get either one working as expected. For Live TV i need vuplus plugin. Simple to set up. Picons work perfectly as well as program guide. But the one thing that matters is just an error message. Streaming with LAN/internet computer/phone says: "No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details". Streaming with other vuplus/enigma apps or with VLC works fine. I installed a hdhomerun plugin to my vuplus, but that does not work at all with emby. Like it did not exist. I've also tried using m3u playlists (which work with VLC) but no go with emby. For 50€/year one would expect some official technical support in my opinion. But I'm hopefull someone has some experience with this issue. Any tips appreciated.
Luke 42077 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 @Karsta62 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

The most recent entry should be when i just tried to stream a channel. embyserver.txt

Hi, did you run the refresh guide scheduled task in Emby Server after adding the hdhomerun to vuplus? But also, why not just add the hd homerun to emby server directly? It has native support for HD Homerun. What do you need VuPlus for?

I've refreshed guide manually every time many times, using any of the three tv-setups. though I don't need the epg. My emby server does not have TV receivers capable for pay TV. VuPlus has my pay-tv cards and I want to be able to stream them using emby as well as all the channels. The status is: m3u: works with local usb-tv cards in emby server with free channels. Not from vuplus, even the corresponding vuplus playlist works using other methods than emby. hdhomerun: plugin in vuplus box: Choosing this method in emby says No devices detected, manually entered ip, still nothing works vuplus plugin: Channels found, picons work, EPG works, streaming does not work. Using many other methods streaming works from vuplus box. So the vuplus plugin is the closest and the only way, unless hdhomerun somehow would come to life. Was the log useful at all?

The log contains errors saying unauthorized, which suggest vuplus is rejecting due to authentication? Does vuplus have options to control this?
Karsta62 3 Posted May 22, 2023 Author Posted May 22, 2023 I think the authentication is either on or off. I kinda hoped the "Web Interface username" in the plugin settings would be used to authenticate.
Karsta62 3 Posted May 22, 2023 Author Posted May 22, 2023 Interesting. I changed the streaming port in emby to the vu+ transcoding port and got video. Though it's transcoded and all dvb/ttx subtitles are gone. Some progress anyway.

Karsta62 3 Posted May 23, 2023 Author Posted May 23, 2023 Can you be more specific of what kind of example? Now I get live tv stream to emby, but it's transcoded by vu+ box since the port is the one it sends transcoded video and the "stats for nerds" shows that as well. When vu+ transcodes, the dvb/ttx subtitles are always lost unfortunately. Using the "raw" stream they remain and work for example with VLC or any other player supporting dvb/ttx subs. An update while writing: On the vu+ box I removed the requirement of authentication on http streams and that allowed emby to stream eventually and maintaining subtitles. Though it outputs ttx subs in all languages available simultaneously using browser in a computer, and no ttx subs using emby for android. A mess... But without authentication is not quite what I want. But that's probably an issue with the plugin, not emby, right?

Hi, probably, but if you can provide log examples of the two scenarios that you mentioned, then I can probably provide some insight as to why the subtitles are not showing up in the first case, and then why they're all showing together in the second.

Never mind the transcoded issue. It's all on VU box. I uploaded the logs where I watched a clip of a movie having ttx subs and the issue. emby_logs.zip
Karsta62 3 Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 Another issue encountered. Many SD channels look like the uploaded image. Sound and dvb subtitles are fine, but image is scrambled. The channels are free to air. When starting the stream the picture is ok about 0,5-1 second.

As well the teletext subtitles behave the same showing all four languages one after the other rapidly. The cc-settings availabe here:

Luke 42077 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 The next questions I have are: If you use Emby to create a small recording, does the recording have this problem when playing in another application such as VLC? If no, does the recording have this problem when playing from Emby?

That is when using chrome on linux. With VLC the emby recording is fine. So it's related to DVB subtitles and emby on chrome I think. When ever a channel has anything teletext, emby brings it on by default (chrome/linux).

Hmmmm.....I think emby should not activate teletext at all by default.
Luke 42077 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Have you configured your Emby user subtitle options?
Karsta62 3 Posted July 3, 2023 Author Posted July 3, 2023 Right. Dumbass I am. Setting it to Smart fixed the teletext on by default issue. Though still when I activate dvb-subs, the image gets scrambled. HD Pay TV channels don't work. They would have teletext subs. Unable to test more just yet.

Couldn't edit But false info was the pay HD channels. I had a second paytv chanel open and the box can only handle one. But still the issue of getting all teletext languages on continuously. As in the images above, I can choose only them all or off. Using VLC it automatically chooses Finnish, as I want
