thelanranger 11 Posted May 13, 2023 Author Posted May 13, 2023 This is obviously a change to your membership details that I was not aware you made (and honestly I don't trust would not be made again). Even the agreement terms you have listed simply state that all you would have to do is rename the product and the lifetime would no longer apply. So, forking off emby into some other product would effectively mean that I'd need to buy another $120 (or whatever the new product costs) license to get that if you just decide to no longer support this project anymore because it's not profitable. This brings me back to the whole thing about paying you a monthly fee. At least, at the time, it seemed like a good way to provide an income stream for a project that I used I would hope would stay around and that I would hopefully get some input on its direction. If you don't care about either then I'll stop paying you $5 a month and just use kodi as a viewer.
pwhodges 2012 Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 Presumably you are using Emby rather than its main free competitor because you prefer it. It's up to you how you wish to proceed when balancing that preference against the cost (which it has been established you don't need to keep paying monthly); no one here can make that decision for you, however much you keep going on about it. But, this is really the case with absolutely any software license you purchase. Things can always change in the future but we haven't changed it in 8 years and have no plans to change it. As others have said, it is up to you to decide the value proposition for you personally. It is up to us to provide enough value for the cost. Thanks for the past support.
