Brenden 0 Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Hello, I have an issue where my devices are unable to access my emby server unless they are all using the same eero devices in my house. I have multiple eero devices for my home network (just one mesh network) but if my PC (emby server) is on one eero device and the thing I'm using to stream media from my server, such as my phone, TV, or Xbox, is on a different eero router, then it either won't connect or is just extremely slow and constantly buffers. If they are both using the same eero device everything works fine and it streams perfectly. Has anyone experienced this on a mesh network? Is there some special setting to get this to work right? Thank you

Thank you I've not experienced this having three eero nodes in the house. Only thing I've really done is set an ip reservations for my server and my cameras so the ips don't change. Hooking up ethernet from my boys xbox into an eero node made a significant difference with speed on the other end of the house though. Dhcp>auto Dns> auto Ipv6 is on Upnp is off Client steering is on Thread is on Softwate version V6.14.0 Eero 6+ R010001 Can go over my emby settings later if needed. Edited May 1, 2023 by indianaguy
Brenden 0 Posted May 1, 2023 Author Posted May 1, 2023 Hi Luke, Unfortunately that does not help the issue I'm having. I have no vpns or anything as well, and the issue is only present when devices are connected to different eeros. If they all connect to one (for example I unplugged my other eero), then things work fine. There is only a problem when they connect to different eeros within my network (all network settings being unchanged).
Brenden 0 Posted May 1, 2023 Author Posted May 1, 2023 Hi Indianaguy, Interesting, I have not played around with ip reservation, will that force certain devices to use a specific eero node? My eero settings are almost identical to yours except I turned off steering and thread in an attempt to resolve the issue, but they made no difference.
indianaguy 2 Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 I don't believe it's currently possible to force connections to certain eeros. I had that problem before where a device would connect to an eero furthest away. That's apparently up to the device.
indianaguy 2 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 I dont see an edit button for my post but. do you have your server/pc hardwired at least? And of course power cycled your routers. Is it a new eero system you can return ( may be faulty?) ive seen plenty of google searches of people having connectivity issues with eero setups as well.
Brenden 0 Posted May 2, 2023 Author Posted May 2, 2023 My server (PC) is not hardwired unfortunately. It's in my basement. The node sits directly above my PC, just one floor up. The connection strength says it's great and doing speed tests on the PC show great up/down wireless speed. It is a brand new setup, I just purchased about a month ago. I've reached out to eero support as well to see if they can provide any insight. I could run an ethernet cord through my house temporarily to the PC just to see if it makes a difference (I imagine it would since it would be connected to my main eero node, the one the cable modem is connected to).
Warwrecker 0 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Create a profile in eero app and add the server with the playback device. That did the trick for me.
Brazer 42 Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 I am experiencing the same issue with three Eeros. As soon as I bypass my Eero, playback becomes stable. @Warwrecker, did you make any specific changes to the profile? This issue occurs on any device in my house connected wirelessly to my Eero Wi-Fi.
