Emby doesn't find my Chromecast

Is there a way to troubleshoot why Emby doesn't discover my Chromecast? I double checked they're both connected to the same network and other apps play nice with it. It may very well be an issue with my router but I don't know where to look in order to find meaningful info on this issue.

Hi, what Emby app or browser are you trying to use Chromecast with? You'll need to use Emby for Android, Emby for iOS, or the Chrome browser.

I’m using the Chrome web app.

Is the web app on https or localhost? It will need to be one of those two, otherwise Chromecast access is not allowed by the browser.

For https that also means you'll need to setup SSL on your emby server. If that sounds like too much, then I would use our android or iOS app.

On https, I didn't know that I need to set SSL so I'll do it soon and will report back if I find any issues. Casting with the iOS app worked perfectly. Thanks a lot, Luke.

I have a similar issue. I have https enabled. I'm able to cast from my phone but I'm unable to cast from browser or desktop app on MacOS. Any idea what could be wrong ?

@subtlefartswhen you try this, what url is in the browser address bar? It needs to either be an https address or local host.

@Luke I have https configured via reverse proxy. So the url is "https://emby.example.com"

What type of certificate? It could be that the Chromecast receiver is rejecting the ssl certificate.
