Yes - all my devices support DTS and my AVR supports DTS-HD - I don't appear to have any issues.

Interesting. Maybe I have a weak link in the chain somewhere, although I have no idea where it is. I've purged the AV1 files but still having issues with some of the 4K HEVC files. I will start gathering stats on all those to see if I can tell what seems to be causing the issues. Thanks.

Thanks Luke! Your suggestion to load Emby onto the TV rather than relying on Fire Stick was good advice. The internal app is getting 85mbps wi-fi, which is more than double what I got with the stick. I've tried a mesh system with no luck and may try a power line ethernet adaptor to see if i can get even more speed.

Many of my favorite HEVC 4K movie files do indeed have DTS-HD audio, so I'm going to test those via the internal app with the better connection speed and see how it goes. If those files still won't play nice, I guess I'll look to replace them with a less tricky audio type.

I looked through my library and located about 15 more 4K HEVC10 files with DTS-HD. I decided to quick test them by playing each (via internal app on the TV) for about 10 minutes (hopefully this is long enough).

The good news (I think) is I only had issues streaming 2 more of the files to the TV. All the rest played fine Direct Play (for the 10 minutes anyway) with no stutters and no attempt to transcode.

So, out of around 20 4K HEVC10 DTS-HD files, 3 had issues streaming to TV. Two of those played fine on Emby on my desktop (with ethernet). One seemed to be a corrupt file.

I may still try the powerline ethernet adapters to see if I can increase speed downstairs, but for now it's easier just to replace or convert the 3 problem  files.

Thanks again. Will check in as I test more file types and/or try the powerline ethernet adapters.

If you can run even a single Ethernet cable from the main router to the 'downstairs' then I would probably suggest just setting up a 2nd wireless access point (AP) over powerline adapters.

This will then give that area a full boost in wireless performance - for all devices, not just the device with the powerline adapter (if that works at all ..)
