nicko84 71 Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 I've no Dolby Vision and maybe no HDR10 (?) on ET 3.019 and Windows 10. How can i have both ? Do i need a specific mpv.conf ? Thanks for your help. NB : Dolby Atmos works fine PS : on Android and Fire Stick App Dolby Vision is good but Atmos is not Â
Luke 42077 Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 HI, did you configure HDR in windows settings?
nicko84 71 Posted April 23, 2023 Author Posted April 23, 2023 (edited) Hello Luke, Yes i did it but no change i think (?). How can i be sure that DV or HDR10 are decoded by ET ? Edited April 23, 2023 by nicko84
Guest Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 In the video settings, change video output to gpu-next and leave hardware acceleration on autoÂ
nicko84 71 Posted April 23, 2023 Author Posted April 23, 2023 Hello generiq, with hdr activated in Windows 10 ? Â Â

nicko84 71 Posted April 23, 2023 Author Posted April 23, 2023 Ok thanks i'll try that. How could i know if hdr10 or dv is ok or not then ?

I just see bt2020 in stats instead of 709 but is it hdr10 or dv, i don't know...

If it's HDR10 the stats will say bt2020, DV is different and the stats will probably show it as bt709, because of the way it's read. But if the system is in HDR10, DV will be reduced to static metadata and mapped to bt2020.
Guest Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 You can read more about that here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/107829-dolby-vision-in-mpv/

If yes, ET never display in DV on Windows ? Edited April 24, 2023 by nicko84

Luke 42077 Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 It’s possible for future updates to the app. Thanks.

Windows HDR is all forms of HDR, but the player in Theater (mpv) only supports DV by tone mapping and not forwarding the metadata.
nicko84 71 Posted April 30, 2023 Author Posted April 30, 2023 Hello, My last (but not least) experience with ET and HDR10/Doby Vision (and Dolby Atmos) : -ET on Desktop : HDR10 OK and DV KO (seen as HDR10) / Dolby Atmos OK -ET on Google TV : HDR10 and DV OK / Dolby Atmos KO -ET on Shield TV Pro : HDR10 and DV OK / Dolby Atmos OK 1
nicko84 71 Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Hello, Does mpv.conf with gpu-next is running good ? Or is it better to put auto in video output and mpv.conf in hardware acceleration and deal with gpu-next (and other mpv parameters) into the mpv.conf ?

nicko84 71 Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Yes and it's running good but in this case can input mpv.conf in hardware acceleration instead of auto ?

If you want to use your conf for hardware acceleration, just set it to 'unset' in the Theater settings. Or are you asking about video output/gpu-next, which is not hardware acceleration? My recommendation for Luke, was to use gpu-next as the default. Edited May 19, 2023 by generiq
