HawkXP71 112 Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 (edited) There are 2 major "auto" features on the transcoding page. My questions are How does emby chose the thread count? Is is purely performance based (ie # of cores based?) or is it tied to the media? How does emby choose the encoding preset? Why doesnt the CRF option have an auto as well? For CRF, is it only used for 264? what about the H265 CRF values? How does the throttling option effect the choices? If someone wants to point me to the code that makes the choices, please feel free Edited April 19, 2023 by HawkXP71

Hi, the ffmpeg default of 0 is used to maximize performance. Quote How does emby choose the encoding preset? The default is essentially our recommendation. Quote Why doesnt the CRF option have an auto as well? ffmpeg doesn't have an auto for this. If you omit it, it has an internal default, but it doesn't change depending on the media. Quote How does the throttling option effect the choices? It does not affect any of the above three topics. 1
