Luke 42078 Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 HI, can you please describe your issue in more detail? Thanks !
anonyms 2 Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 metadata from animelist not fetching for animelist.
Luke 42078 Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 OK we'll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
Luke 42078 Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 I don't have an update yet, sorry. But while I'm here, I would like to point out that the MyAnimeList plugin is a community contribution, and contributions are certainly welcome: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Plugins.MyAnimeList I will look at it when I can. Thanks.
Luke 42078 Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 One thing - did you enter a username and password into the plugin? If you did, try removing it.

anonyms 2 Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 Seems to be working for some of the anime, please find the server logs. @Luke ffmpeg-transcode-54a1abf9-420f-4024-ab1a-323f112e0564_1.txt embyserver.txt 1

Last I checked I think it works better that way.

Sharlock7 0 Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Thanks a lot, but it doesnt seem to fix the issue that i am facing. i have an anime called "working!!" on my server and the plugin seems to replace the metadata and images of it's episodes with JAV, i tried uninstalling every other plugin than Myanimelist but the issue persists. i am not sure what is causing the issue, this is the only anime that gets this kind of result. I also see other anime that dont get their meta data identified and i can understand that but this is worse, way worse
pwhodges 2012 Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 I have hundreds of anime. and find that the default TVDB recognises very one of them (only very rarely do I have to checkout TVDB's preferred name if it's not what I've used, and just once I added an anime to the TVDB database myself). When I tried the Anime plugin options, I got much worse results. In the case of Working!!, TVDB finds it just fine with that name as is - though it returns the name as Wagnaria!! (the US release name). I suggest you try simply using TVDB. Paul 1

I provided the specific example, my anime called "working!!" is being considered as an adult video the name and image generated for each episode is definitely not anime when we want to categorize anime, only anime specific plugins should be prioritized, here the results are wayyy off from a simple google search i see that every user of emby who uses it to watch anime faces an issue with metadata Edited July 22, 2024 by Sharlock7

pwhodges 2012 Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 I would simply remove the Anime plugins, or (for testing, at least) just not enable the metadata providers they add. Unless you have changed things from the default, that will leave TVDB as the first metadata provider for series. For movies the first provider is, or should be, TMDB. I keep my anime series and stand-alone movies in separate libraries, and for movies TMDB is better (TVDB is, per its name, more focussed on series). Movies that are integrated with series I put as series specials, of course. If you are putting all anime - series and movies - into one mixed-type library, to get reliable results without hassle you must follow the Emby naming rules carefully - i.e. movies in their own individual folders, and series having explicit season folders even if there's only one. The folder structure is the main determinant of how Emby decides whether it's looking at a movie or a series. Paul

Paul Thanks, you gave me a good idea, when i setup my emby libraries the first time, i had no idea bout metadata providers, i have a dedicated library for my anime collection and when i checked it's settings, myanimelist was actually disabled, i disable all other providers apart from MAL i guess for those TV shows and anime that don't have any images or series data, i'll have to rename directories and files. Is there any way to do it in bulk?

Best thing to do is compare to the provider's website.

I have no experience of that, so can't comment. 2 hours ago, Sharlock7 said: i guess for those TV shows and anime that don't have any images or series data, i'll have to rename directories and files. Is there any way to do it in bulk? I do it using the Windows utility Bulk Rename Utility; but there are others, such as Advanced Renamer, and probably many others, both free and not. Or you could look into programs which are purpose made for naming video files (series and movies) and can be set up to enforce Emby's recommendations; things like FileBot and probably others. Why don't I use FileBot myself? Never got around to it is the main reason... Paul
