Can someone please help me decode this error? I’m pretty clueless with network issues. I’m trying to connect Emby app on my Shield Pro to Emby server on windows computer. Both on same network via Ethernet. Thanks.

You can disregard those for now, we'll come back to that if you want to setup remote access.

You are trying - and not having success or?

Have you gone through connectivity troubleshooter?

Thanks @GrimReaper. Apologies for not providing more information. Yes, I have gone through the troubleshooter. I can connect to the server fine from other PCs using any browser. I can also connect via iPad app. I'm just having issues with the Shield for some reason. I've tried with both the regular Shield Emby app, as well as a side loaded Android app. Even stranger, I can access the server on a different Shield in another room (also Ethernet connection).

Good, that means server is accessible and ports open in firewall.

What kind of issues? Does the app see your server? Is it failing to connect? Are you unable to login? Have you tried connecting manually by entering server IP and port? Are your Shield and your server on the same subnet?

I just figured it out in case someone runs across this post. My VPN (Windscribe) on the Shield is somehow blocking the local connection, even though I have it set to allow LAN connections. When I turn off the VPN, it works fine. Sorry for the wild goose chase.

The issue itself was manifesting as the inability to connect to the server at all.

Glad you sorted it out. Though, if you've read troubleshooter:

Quote

Turn off any VPN Connections

VPN (virtual private network) software can change routing and sometimes make connecting to servers on your home network impossible. This is especially true if when running a VPN on your Emby Server.  If you're still unable to connect to your Emby server try turning off any VPN software running on any client or server in your home network.

I actually forgot I had the VPN turned on. It does make me wonder why having a VPN enabled on the client would prevent connection to the server (no VPN running). Frustrating because I either need to give up local streaming or VPN protection for other things.

thanks so much for the super quick replies. Appreciate your help.
