Chipsta040365 4 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 (edited) I did a search first for CoverArt issues first and found and was watching the thread for issues with cover art and version 4.8.0.26 , but, was told create a new thread. So here goes... Has anyone else seeing CoverArt not pulling images with Emby Version 4.7.11.0 and CoverArt Version 4.1.20.0. running on Windows 10 It only shows a screen capture of the recently added movie instead of the Cover Art. However if I manually enter the IMDB in identify section the artwork pulls correctly Edited April 11, 2023 by GrimReaper Title modified

Chipsta040365 4 Posted April 11, 2023 Author Posted April 11, 2023 Hello EBR, I fixed the recent batch of movies I have added and corrected them Manually using the identify option and IMDB tt code and it finds the images and replaces them. Normally if I load a movie and then do a scan(library - library scan), within a minute I have the images loaded. Recently they stopped pulling images and would only shows a screen capture from the movie instead of the artwork. I will be uploading more movies tonight and I will add screenshots Thanks for the help Chip
crusher11 1101 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 That has nothing to do with the CoverArt plugin.

Chipsta040365 4 Posted April 12, 2023 Author Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) I just added A Good Person to my movie folder.(normal process for when I add to my Emby Server) Next I Went to Library - Scan Library Files from Dashboard Then I went to the home screen to see if it had the right artwork. Below is the results first Pic was after about 30 seconds Second pic was after waiting a minute(scan usually updates the artwork in less than 30 secs) If I use identify and put the IMDB info TTxxxxxx it will find and replace all images and the cover art will appear Let me know what else to check When I initially search artwork, I stumbled on the wrong thread and assumed it was coverArt that was broken Sorry for any confusion Let me know what else you might need Chip Attached are the log files Emby Server 4.7.11.0 embyserver.txt Edited April 12, 2023 by Chipsta040365
ebr 16177 Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Hi. Okay, this is a naming and identification problem. You can see from the title shown under the item that it has not been matched with any movie (it is just the file name). If I search tmdb for "A Good Person 2023 1080p WEBRip x264" which is how your file is named, I get zero results. Organizing your movies into individual folders with more accurate names (e.g. "A Good Person (2023)") would undoubtedly help. A search for "A good person" on tmdb returns the proper result.

Thank You for your input EBR. However, i have always used this naming convention and it has always worked. So, what has changed? If I search IMDB with A.Good.Person.2023 the website finds it Edited April 12, 2023 by Chipsta040365

Hello EBR, Here is a screenshot of a new upload to my server. I changed naming convention to name and year only, checked and changed metadata to same and still not working But interestingly it is not working on tmdb. what is the main source for lookup? I know IMDB works with my current naming convention(used since 2016) Edited April 12, 2023 by Chipsta040365
roaku 842 Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) I have been having similar issues (first noticed around 15 hours ago) and it does seem to be something wrong with TMDB, not Emby. New movie imports to Emby (I happen to be running .29, not stable) are defaulting to an extracted screenshot and no metadata is retrieved. When I manually identify, I get network timeouts, empty search results, and occasionally successful searches, all from the same inputs on the Emby side. Hopefully, it's just a hiccup with TMDB that they'll be able to resolve soon. Edited April 12, 2023 by roaku

I know IMDB works with my current naming convention(used since 2016) The provider that is the highest enabled provider in the properties of the library (by default TMDB for movies, TVDB for series). IMDB is not used for lookup by Emby ($$$); if you provide its id number, then your default provider can use it as a key to their databases, is all. Note also that with the preferred layout of the movie file in its own directory, it is the directory name which is used for the initial lookup, not the file name. Paul
Chipsta040365 4 Posted April 12, 2023 Author Posted April 12, 2023 Thank you everyone for all the insightful information. The fact still remains that it stopped working. Where is it broken? Is it Emby api? or tmdb lookup thru the imdb connection? Something has changed. let me know what else we need to correct it Chip
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Well Emby does not use IMDB for anything so searching their site will be irrelevant. Your Providers would be TVDB, TMDB and OMDB depending on your provider order. Server log would be required showing the query for the items having issues. But querying these "SCENE" names are the issue as a provider will return no results. 2023-04-11 21:33:07.204 Info App: MovieDbProvider: Finding id for item: A.Good.Person.2023.1080p.WEBRip.x264-RARBG 2023-04-11 21:33:07.204 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movie?api_key=f6bd687ffa63cd282b6ff2c6877f2669&query=A.Good.Person.2023.1080p.WEBRip.x264-RARBG&language=en&year=2023 2023-04-11 21:33:07.515 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movie?api_key=f6bd687ffa63cd282b6ff2c6877f2669&query=A Good Person 2023 1080p WEBRip x264 RARBG&language=en&year=2023 2023-04-11 21:33:07.573 Info HttpClient: GET https://private.omdbapi.com?apikey=fe53f97e&plot=full&r=json&y=2023&t=A.Good.Person.2023.1080p.WEBRip.x264-RARBG&type=movie a good person — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org) jesus revolution — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org)

Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Looking at the log did Emby automatically get "Pacific Rim Uprising" or was it a manual query? pwhodges 2012 Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 We know that the providers have changed the order in which they present results, and this can cause queries that used to work as expected to go wrong. The solution is not simply in Emby's hands (there may be things they can do to help, like detecting exact matches, though they seem to be resisting doing that at present), but also in ours to try to ensure that our naming is handled in a way that works with the providers. Paul
roaku 842 Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 I was able to resolve my version of this issue after pulling a tmdb api url out of the log and testing it. https://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/movie?api_key=***&query=The+Sting&language=en&year=1973 For me, this endpoint worked fine in a browser on my desktop, but the same endpoint was returning an empty result set from my Emby host. So, I turned my host off and on again, and of course, that fixed it and Emby is able to retrieve results from tmdb normally again. Not sure if the OP's issue is the same, but it's worth trying.

Mnejing 23 Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 I'm pretty lazy about my folder structure, but 99% of the time, it's completely fine. Same types of filenames, etc etc. It's a rare occasion, but the Identify option takes like... 10 seconds? I realize people want things to "just work," but there are functionally an unlimited number of ways people can name files, and expecting Emby to be perfect on them 100% of the time is simply unreasonable. I think one of the big problems with Emby users in general is that they don't understand it's server software. There are people who get paid to administer servers for a living (yes, I realize that it's not the SAME thing). That it works as well as it does with minimal intervention is pretty fantastic. Having to do small amounts of maintenance is a small price to pay, in my incredibly humble and unsolicited opinion. Maybe I'm old school, but in my experience of running various pieces of server software in a home environment since at least the 90s, having to do small bits of upkeep was just par for the course.... 1
