joshhuggins 22 Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Hi all! I was wondering if someone can help point me in the right direction. I have some Mixed Content Libraries where I am trying to get them setup so that they never download metadata or images without me specifically triggering a lookup or download. The Library option 'Enable real time monitoring' is UNCHECKED & 'After the initial import, automatically refresh metadata from the internet:' set to 'Never'. My normal workflow is to create the a new folder in the drive location the Library is set to watch, get everything setup with the proper folder structure and naming conventions per Emby Knowledgebase articles, then run the library scan which in my mind, based on the options I have set above, should find the files and add them to the Library, but not pull any info from online yet, leaving them pretty much blank and not ID'ed, so I can then go into the metadata manager and ID the items myself and select the images I want to apply for the movie or show. But when I start to add folders and files to the backend on the drives, the new items start showing up in the library in the users apps, often with incorrect ID's and images, sometimes adult related in kids accounts which is what I am trying to avoid. The locations are only setup for the one Library so it's not like another Library's settings is updating it. What am I missing to set to avoid these metadata and images from being auto downloaded and pushed out before I get my folders setup and run a manual Library Scan? Have tried searching the forums for a similar request but came up empty. Thanks for any suggestions, it's really appreciated!

You'd have to disable all meta-providers/image fetchers for that to happen. 10 minutes ago, joshhuggins said: What am I missing to set to avoid these metadata and images from being auto downloaded and pushed out before I get my folders setup and run a manual Library Scan? Read above, but generally what you're after ain't feasible without plenty enabling/disabling library options. Edit: Or kill Internet connection altogether before adding items and enable it once you're ready to identify items/download metadata and images. Edited April 10, 2023 by GrimReaper Append
joshhuggins 22 Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 Ahhhhh, I thought those check boxes for selecting the meta-providers were just how you could limit what would be pulled from when you did request a pull. OK, I think at this point think I'll just disable all the meta-providers in Emby and I'll just go to a 3rd party meta puller then at this point. Thank you GrimReaper.
joshhuggins 22 Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 What I have now actually ended up doing is creating a new library just for building new entries, and then once complete, I just move the whole folder where it should be and re-run the library scan. Would be nice if we could get an option to only pull from meta-providers when asked to still.

That's how the server works, there's nothing you need to do. Internet metadata is only downloaded on first import, and then on manual actions after that.

Hi Luke, what I was hoping for was that it would not download from the metadata providers during the library import on it's own of the movie or show, but only when I manually use Identify or Edit Metadata or Images directly where I get to select exactly what item I want images or metadata downloaded from and not have it just pull whatever it thinks is the closest match, which is wrong quite often actually, for me at least and sometimes WAY wrong on multiple levels. I am just surprised more people don't get as many incorrect identifies as I do. It makes cleanup of the incorrect metadata a pain sometimes.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 @LukeBasically, an offline import no metadata/images and then being able to manually identify and manually import images for providers. Where currently this is automated per library setting on import.
