Hardware Transcoding Intel 13th Gen (Unraid + Docker)

Recommended Posts

Hey,

i replaced my i5-7600 Unraid rig against a i9-13900. I struggled for the HW-Transcoding in Emby now for days and thought its a unraid issue. But now i installed jellyfin and it worked out of the box with VAAPI and QSV... Emby doesnt support 13th Gen actualy?

Thanks!

Didn't work as in transcoding failed and fell back to software?

I don't use Unraid so I don't know what @SirJMD meant by adding /dev/dri as a "host device".

Raptor Lake needs a fairly new kernel but if it was working with JF ffmpeg then it should be recent enough.

So finaly it works... @SirJMDmeans to give the Emby (Docker Container) access to the iGPU. It works now flawless. So beta did the trick, i was missing to switch over all to QSV.

Yep. For some reason adding --device=/dev/dri:/dev/dri to "additional requirements" doesn't work, but adding /dev/dri as a "host device" does, eventho those two methods should yield the same result.

Yep, because u have to do that under "Extra Parameters"

any update on when 13th gen will be supported without having to use a bata branch

There's no date for when current beta is promoted to stable.

Hi, there's no ETA but we're working very hard on it.

Any updates on this being promoted to stable?

Hi @LukeI had not realized that hardware transcoding was not working when I switched to Emby. I think content plays natively better than it did in plex. It looks like hardware transcoding for 13th gen intel has been working for a while in the beta and I just upgraded my container and verified it works. I am concerned about stability however. I know you wrote very soon in the reply above but v4.8 just released recently. Can you give us a better idea of where it in is the release schedule? Thanks.

Thanks for release.. i came from beta to 4.8.0.80 stable and transcoding was working very well but with the new latest (4.8.0.80) version it doesnt... did i missed anything?

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

nvm.. sorry Luke.. i have a ASUS PRO WS W680-ACE IPMI... and the IPMI Card disables the iGPU after BIOS Update... so its not a Emby issue... my renderD128 is gone...

I think everything is fine :) i have to fix this

Thanks so much. I moved to the stable release this morning and I tested transcoding and it seems to be using the intel GPU.
