Which might or might not be true, as they're not same software. How are your files named and organized? Exact example would also be welcomed.

E:MEGA/MOVIES/AMERICAN PIE COLLECTION/AMERICAN PIE 1 (1999)/AMERICAN PIE 1 (1999).MP4.

then replace 1 with 2 3 5 6. But for some reason only the first movie won't identify on emby but will on plex.  Another example.

E:mega/movies/The grey (****)/the grey(****). MP4.  Won't identify the correct metadata wrong Metadata...

There's no movie American Pie 1 (1999). Remove that "1", rescan.

Maybe he means this, https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/75174-the-grey. But just a guess.

Not sure why he put **** instead of the actual year, strange...😆

found some useful tips around forum.

at folder where you media is inside, add [tmdbid=xxxxxx] or [tvdbid=xxxxxx] after the movie name, at folder level

the id should be retrieved from tmdb/tvdb respective site..

As denoted in the KB article:

Quote

ID Tags in Folder & File Names

Emby can also read a Meta-Data ID from the name.

Format:

Name (Year) [tmdbid=xxxx]

Example:

Alone (2020) [tmdbid=509635]

Emby supports the following tags with the host website for lookup.

tmdbid  (https://www.themoviedb.org/)

imdbid  (https://www.imdb.com/)

tvdbid  (https://thetvdb.com/)

Note:  tmdbid is the prefered tag to use for most uses

Yeh sorry I put (xxxx) because I didn't know the year.  But the year is 2011.

That could fix it maybe :)

That's weird, I just DL the movie "The Grey (2011)" (mybad :)) to test and it scraped fine with the same naming as you "The Grey (2011)/The Grey (2011).mp4"

Notice the year is scraped 2012 from TMDB even though I named the movie 2011..

How are your Movie Metadata Downloaders ordered?

In case of difficulty identifying, it is always worthwhile to look up the movie/series manually on the appropriate website (TMDB, TVDB) to see what their preferred form of the name is and what year they have recorded.  Then adjust your naming to match your preferred source for that item type and you should have no more problems.  In rare extreme cases (e.g. multiple movies with the same name and year - it happens!), adding the site's id may be necessary for automatic recognition.
