Does ETA lack option to downmix audio to AAC like Android TV?

I've been looking for the option back and forth in the ETA.

Is it possible to add this function in ETA? BTW, being kind of a noob regarding audio codec, I have a question. My legacy tv is connected to my android box with an HDMI cable. It's nearly a fact that the legacy tv only support 2 channel stereo audio. AIDA64 shows EAC3 codec support in my android box.Under such circumstances, will ETA decode the media file with EAC3 encoding? If so, will I be able to hear the sound coming out from my legacy tv. It works for me with Android TV emby because of the option I mentioned above.

Not knowing neither your TV model nor your Android box model, but since your box should be "aware" of your TV capabilities, I would assume that it would either decode audio locally or Emby would remux audio server-side and DirectStream to your device. Also, have you checked your Android box audio system settings (not Emby client app settings) what options do you have?

I'm back with all the information I could provide with. First of all, I want to point out that the server is set to NOT transcode any media. So it would only be my android box who decode the media file. Secondly, the tv is a no namer brand tv. Let's simply ignore it and treat it as computer display which doesn't have SOC nor wifi, etc. It can only output video and audio signal throught the HDMI cable.

Here's my android box audio setting:

picture 1-2 are my android tv box audio settings. I've tried both manual  and auto. Neither is working for ETA, but both work for Emby for ATV.

Pic 3 is my AIDA64 codec. Pic 4 is the media file which I've problems with. As is clearly shown, it's encoded with EAC3 codec. And AIDA64 shows support for it.

But using ETA my TV is outputing nothing at all. Only Emby for Android TV works.

Both are playing the same episode.

P1 is from ETA, no audio.

P2 is from Emby for ATV, working audio. It does show it's using software docoding. Maybe it's because I've enabled that downmix option.

That is not recommended, as it will likely lead to other issues down the line. But even if you're keen on keeping it that way, you should restrict it to disabled video transcoding only and enable audio transcoding, as that is inexpensive CPU task, you'll hardly notice CPU usage increase on audio remux. What are your transcoding settings under Settings>Users>edit desired user?

I'd disable all formats there save AAC and AC3, play again via standard Android app and see how does that compare?

Tried. Same results. I even turned off all of the codec in sound settings. Emby for ATV is still fine while ETA not working.

That's the reason why lots of people stick to the Emby for ATV. ETA breaks things for us Emby ATV users.

Sorry for the delay. Here's the setting for my account in the server. Only audio transcoding is enabled.

I've a theory for the situation. Maybe my android box is mal-functioning as for the codec selection. Even I disabled the output in the setting, but emby still treat it as a capable device so it doesn't send the transcode request to the server? That's why we see direct play in the ETA.

Can you please provide the Emby server and ffmpeg log files from an example? Thanks.

embyserver (1).txthardware_detection-63816884860.txt

Here's the debug log ranging from the moment seconds before I started playing the EAC3 video. Let me know if more is needed.
