mufjem 0 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I have 2 emby servers on the same network but on different computers reason is I want totransfer my existing server to a new computer but still want to keep the old to use while I am rebuilding installed the old with defaul parameter with media on several hard drives only used locally not outside of network everything works very well installed the second one on the new computer and set up to access media on my other computer(not all media) this worked well I tried to access outside of network could not access the old but was able to access the the new. uninstalled the new but still not able to access the old with the new installed I have searched forums and found information about changing ports in this scenario. have done this yet but will try. though with the new server removed it should work without changing unless some configuration has changed appreciate any comments or help on this issue-thanks much

You need to properly configure port forwarding on your router for each machine separately (maybe UPnP is creating issues there). Could you share a screenshot of your router Port Forwarding section and local IPs of your machines together with each Emby server Settings>Network tab?
mufjem 0 Posted March 24, 2023 Author Posted March 24, 2023 will do-for youre info I am using verizon fios with their 1100 router. not experienced with setting up prot forwarding but will check it out
GrimReaper 4739 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Also, have a read here: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44002137137-remote-setup
rbjtech 5284 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 6 minutes ago, mufjem said: not experienced with setting up prot forwarding but will check it out This suggests that you are using the built in Plug and Play/Port Forward functionality within emby to do this. As Grim says, I would suggest disabling the Plug and Play/Port Plugin on both emby instances and using manual port forwarding. Depending on how much work is involved with changing the remote clients - I would suggest doing the 'changeover' on the router when the time comes. It is also perfectly possible to leave the remote clients on say port 8096 but actually forward to 8097 locally (your new machine) - this is called Port Address Translation and is done as part of the port forward.
