Simple Variable Question (Postprocessing)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

What is the variable for show file name (not full path)

e.g. "D:\Recorded TV\The Show S01E12.mp4"

The variable I'm looking for is one that would define JUST THIS: "The Show S01E12.mp4"

Which variable are you referring to - in the emby API ?

Hi, there isn't one. How will your post processor application know what folder to look in if you only give it the file name?

Posted

Because it needs the file name, not the path. Working with databases with this post processing command.

If there isn't a file name variable, then I'll just use MCEBuddy, it has one.

Curious, what is it? What is your post processing application?

Plex

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plex Media Scanner.exe" --analyze-deeply --file "South Park S10E14 Stanley's Cup.ts" -x

After the development team was very clear that Collections will 'never' go away, I started to use Plex for my library browsing and commercial scanning.

No mandatory collections on a Plex. Emby still has a hands-down amazing live TV/DVR, so, I use it for that only

Why do you think Collections are mandatory in Emby?

Posted

Because I can't disable them, can't remove the collections library in admin, and required to view on the fire stick (no way to disable them)

Have you tried to untick this library option.

This will prevent collection auto creation, going forward.

Of course, but I'm still stuck looking at the library on the admin side and the fire stick (which has no option to hide).

Don't bother man. It is over and done with.

Sure it does, you can hide it in Web App user Home Screen settings (and AndroidTV app will honor that), so you so don't have to look at it.

@Tony B.why not just delete the existing collections that have been created? This can be done easily in bulk using the multi-select tool.

Wouldn't  you like to have a personal media server that doesn't send all of your info up to the cloud?

Have you tried using the user profile option to hide the Collections library from your home screen? It will be gone from all Emby apps if you do that.

You've been told how to stop seeing it on the FireStick, and how much time do you spend looking at your library setup?

There is not a "do not show collections" the Fire Stick like there is on the phone version. At least last I checked.

The fact is, the collection takes up hard drive space, my time to explain it, and to reply to you. Someone I should have blocked long ago.

It's over and done. Emby has it's power-areas, and that's something I continue to use, just not with their server admin for libraries and the user GUI.

Your tone with me in your writing is unprofessional. I would hope that you don't make business decisions for Emby.

I would appreciate it if you didn't directly reply to me anymore.

The user profile option can be done on web app or mobile app and it will apply to all devices, including fire tv.

As OP was already informed:

If it is about space then you need to disable the library options, you need to delete all existing collection to clear item metadata creating then.  As Emby will always read the item metadata.

It's not about space, it's about resource usage, visibility, and it's not something I want. Forcing me to deal with it is unacceptable so, I made my decision on that.

On the app in the Android phone "home screen" configuration, is the only place visible to disable it. This does NOT show on my fire cube or stick. And I just looked at user configuration (again), not one check box for disable collections for users.

This thread has gotten way off topic. Maybe someone should change the subject line to:  "Come try to force me to use something I don't want to use"

These responses have NOTHING to do with the variable question and the thread should be closed and/or moved to a private conversation.

Either way this thread is a shit show.

Have you tried yet disabling it in the Web Client -> "user settings" -> "home screen" tab? which you've been told will be followed by the AndroidTV app on the FireStick?

You don't read very well, Paul. Don't reply directly to my posts.

1.) I don't want collections visible anywhere on my server except for the button to totally disable them.

2.) No matter what, processor cycles are wasted on collections if one despises the idea of collections

3.) Installing or forceably adding features is not ethical.

4.) A single radio button for collections would have helped avoid conversations such as this.

Of course I unchecked collections everywhere I could, they are still on my screen. Simple as that.

Hi.  The image you showed above has them enabled:

That's cause I don't care or use Emby for viewing media, it might have been cleared of data, Emby does other things for me now.

Hence, why I am seeing with these collections more often because the phone is used for admin. I didn't create them and I can't stop them from showing up. Kinda like a porn site would have with shit-tons of ads, you know you are going to be bombarded, but you use it anyway.
