Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 (edited) Please see the following video attached. This "lacking" thing is on some of my videos, and has been so for a while now I haven't had the time, etc. to do something before now. There does now seem to be a pattern on which movies it happens to! fx this movie is 12 Monkeys the file is in .mp4 see spec below. I don't have any other examples as of now. But some of my users have been alerting on other files, which I have replaced with new uploads so I partly fixed the issue. This issue has not always been there, the files works fine, outside of Emby. I'm running Emby 4.7.11.0 on a Windows 10 machine 12 Monkeys -> Title1080p HEVC CodecHEVC Codec Taghev1 ProfileMain 10 Level120 Resolution1920x1036 Aspect Ratio480:259 InterlacedNo Framerate23.976 Bitrate2 mbps Bit Depth10 bit Pixel Formatyuv420p10le Reference Frames1 2023-03-23_13-15-34.mp4 Edited March 23, 2023 by Nitro_Zeus
Luke 42078 Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted March 24, 2023 Author Posted March 24, 2023 See attached log file. This issue happens when watching on Computer (Windows 10, Chrome) Just tested it on Edge and Firefox, and it works fine... kinda annoying reset cache in chrome did not work, don't know what to do. embyserver.txt
Luke 42078 Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 HI, can you try our hosted web app, http://app.emby.media Please let us know how that compares. Thanks.
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted March 29, 2023 Author Posted March 29, 2023 I'm unsure what to do with that link? it does not link me to my server? Also, I found the issue in two other movies as well. The lacking issue is also there when streaming on Google TV, it's updated to the newest version, be aware this issue has been on google TV for a while. embyserver (1).txt
Luke 42078 Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Quote I'm unsure what to do with that link? it does not link me to my server? Hi, no, but you can connect to your server manually using it. Can you try it?
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted March 30, 2023 Author Posted March 30, 2023 Tried connecting manually to my server through the link and the video is still lacking. did you see i also have the issue with google TV in the message above

Thanks !
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted March 30, 2023 Author Posted March 30, 2023 You should check around: "2023-03-30 22.30.47.675 Info" I tried playing on my google TV where it's lacking. And then at "2023-03-30 22.36.19.015 Info" I played it on Google Chrome, where it's also lacking. embyserver (1).txt
visproduction 315 Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 12 Monkeys vid example above has out order frames and runs at 15.035 fps. Did the master video have this odd frame rate, or did the encoder make it because of some quality setting and hardware limitation? 1
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 how do you get that information, when I click properties on the movie, I cant see that kind of info is it some software you use, to obtain all that info? Keep in mind, i don't know that much about video frames and fps etc.
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted April 11, 2023 Author Posted April 11, 2023 This is now happening with more and more files, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Lara Croft Tomb Raider Goodfellas And it only happens on google chrome browser and Google TV Works fine on Edge and Firefox, it makes no sense. see the log file for today. I tried playing all three movies so it can be seen in the logs. embyserver (3).txt

As far as I can see, that video is not the original video being played, but a screen capture (made using Snagit, as shown by MediaInfo) showing the effect. Paul 1

Paul the video is not made by Snagit? a bit confused here?
pwhodges 2012 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 You posted a capture made using Snagit; so its properties do not reflect the properties of the video you have having trouble playing. That does not prevent it showing how your problem appears visually. But it does seem that there must be some problem local to your system, as no one else is reporting similar behaviour. Hopefully the logs will show something... Paul
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 Ohh yeah you're right, i made the example via snagit yes, so we can't use that measure for the video. But it makes no sense, that this issue can only be created og Google Chrome browser and Google tv? This issue has not always been here!!
Luke 42078 Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Hi, how are chrome hardware acceleration settings configured? Some users have reported success by changing those around.
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 I haven't touched the settings so it's on pr. default, would you like me to turn it off and test it?
Luke 42078 Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 I've seen some users who had it off, then turned it on and said video played better. But I've also seen the exact opposite happen as well, so I can't tell you which way is better for you, but since you've currently got it on, you might as well try flipping it off. 1
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted April 15, 2023 Author Posted April 15, 2023 So it turns out on Google Chrome browser it's no longer lacking after I turned off hardware acceleration. So I assume the issue is fixed on Google chrome but it's still lacking on Google tv, tried googling if it's possible to turn off hardware acceleration on Google tv, but haven't found any usefully sites. 1
Nitro_Zeus 11 Posted May 22, 2023 Author Posted May 22, 2023 This is still an issue with google TV can we look into this?
visproduction 315 Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Hardware acceleration checkup with Chrome. Perhaps something in here will show what's happening: https://www.lifewire.com/hardware-acceleration-in-chrome-4125122
