Wrong Thumbnails from Home Photos in Emby

I am using Emby also for my personal photo archive.

All photos are put into seperate folders sorted by years and events.

When Switching to the folders view in Emby everything looks fine and just like in Windows Explorer.

But when switching to the photos view where all files from the folders are put togehter the thumbnails appear to be wrong, meaning when clicking on a thumbnail a different photo that is not similar to the thumbnail shows up. Looking at the Meta data everything looks correct, just the thumbnail does not match. 

I have tried to put the photos into a different folder and run a new scan, same problem. Updating the library or the meta data also does not make any change.

Did anybody experience this problem before and has a solution for it?

I hope somebody can help here.

Thank you, but it does not look like a solution has been found here. I will follow these threads hoping that somebody finds the bug. I will also try on to get a fix here.

I just witnessed that it also happens under the folder tap, but only in folders where many photos are in it. I also guess that there is a limitation for the maximum amount of photos in one folder and if this exceeds the thumbnails get mixed up.

I'm having a similar issue, but only seems to happen when I sort via title instead of by file name in my home photos library of 5000+ photos. I just tried a fresh install on my truenas as a docker image. version 4.8.7.0.

Actually it doesn't seem to matter what file it is it seems to be an issue at the end of the sort by "Title" for photos regardless of ascending/descending order.

first screenshot is for meta data that when you click on that thumbnail it brings up image "065.jpg".  reverse sort and look at meta data for that thumbnail is the same but this time it's for the correct picture "79b5b1a27b0b9b27687bf65c601a7adb.jpg". when in reverse order the thumbnail in question is #58 in the grid.

Actually that was from the old install. I have the config data stored in different locations, but same library (no thumbnails "along side media" option).

But the new install has the same issue only with different files.

I click to get into the home videos and photos then click on the thumbnail under photos when sorted by "Title"

You're sorting by Title descending. How does it compare Ascending?

Some of the last 5700+ or so thumbnails mismatch but only when they are sorted to be last. 

I don't know if I noticed in in Ascending order, but I does happen in descending. now that I am looking for it now I don't see any yet that I know are at the end of Ascending.

On a slightly related note.

On Emby Android app version 3.3.95 the wrong thumbnail shows at the end of the ascending grid of photos for some pictures. Meta Data shown in Link. Picture name is IMG_20211229_120405733_HDR.

I "play"the image the same way as before "clicking" on the library to open it, and then photos, then "click" on the thumbnail.

Found one thumbnail that was incorrect in Ascending. meta-data says one thing but the image shown and downloads is different, and named IMG_20211230_101148271.jpg.

and attached is how far down the scroll it was for the 5800+ photo grid.
