long songs (audiobooks) don't resume

Hello

I've noticed this bug on a very long audiobook track (10 hours).

Emby does not resume such a long track, better said you need to wait verrry long until it resumes.

This seems to be platform independent except for the webplayer, it works fine there.

For testings I connected directly to my Emby remote server, without nginx and cloudflare in place. All transcoding settings are enabled, the format is mp3.

I verified the issue on a local Emby beta installation. It is quite quicker here, but I still need to wait for around 20 seconds.

I attached a server log from the local Emby installation. Started playback and went to the end of the track in Emby Theater Windows.

Here is an example file so you can reproduce, sorry for that one 🙂

best regards

Hi, so it does resume but it just takes longer than you'd like?

on a remote connection it takes about 10 minutes - so yes, that is longer than I like 😕

@Lukeif that is a too edgy case for fixing please tell me, I'll split these books then up.

How does the web app compare?

There's a post in the request forum asking about properly resuming audio files the way Emby already does with video files.

Resuming audio books is supported. Can you please repost the sample file for testing? Thanks.

It definitely takes longer than 3 minutes if I‘m starting the long track in my bedroom where the wifi is not optimal.

Will you take a look at this @Luke?

I tested this file and it resumed at a spot near the end in about two seconds. This was also on Emby Theater 3.0.19, albeit with an updated mpv build that you don't have yet. I'm not sure that will make a difference though. But in any event, we'll have a new app update soon with that.

Hmm okay, but I‘m also seeing the issue with the IOS, Android and Android TV app.

Anyway, it is just this single audio book (Song of Ice and Fire) having these long tracks, so I‘ll split them up.

thanks!

I also have this issue.

I have not been able to get it resume at all. I always have to fast forward it to the time that I last stopped. It's a long, single mp3 that is like 22h long (Frank Herbert's Dune). It's as if it doesn't even remember the place where it left off.

Edit: I think I have figured this out already. =P

I think with the very long file the "percentage minimum to resume" never reached 5%. Perhaps lower that default for audiobooks folder. As an aside, I do think there is a resume issue within the Android Auto app but I will start my own thread about that after more troubleshooting.

Yes the resume settings sound about right.
