pmac 143 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I'm trying to set up my server to automatically convert recorded live tv from TS to MKV after it's done recording; I've right clicked on my "recordings" library (the root folder where all of my recordings are saved) and set it to convert new media when it's added, replacing the old files, but it only seems to work if I manually convert them. Any new media added to my recordings library is ignored. and when I try to set it up again with the new media it makes a new entry in the conversions section with the same library (ie: I'm left with two "recordings" entries in the list). Is there something I'm doing wrong here? I find the TS files start acting up and are very difficult to rewind/fast-forward/etc, and don't show the proper timestamp, which is why I'm converting them to MKV; as they work perfectly after conversion.
pmac 143 Posted March 20, 2023 Author Posted March 20, 2023 @Lukeany ideas on this issue? Or who might be able to help with it?
Luke 42080 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Hi, check the schedule of the convert media scheduled task and make sure it has a schedule to run.

I was under the assumption that it ran automatically when new media was added to the watched folder (in my case, my "recordings" folder).
pmac 143 Posted March 20, 2023 Author Posted March 20, 2023 Where it says "New content added to this folder will automatically be downloaded to the device", what device is it referring to?
pmac 143 Posted March 20, 2023 Author Posted March 20, 2023 It seems like something may not be working as intended (or I'm just not understanding it), because when I go to "Conversions" all the verbiage used on the page is referring to "Downloads" and "Sync"; not "Convert".
Luke 42080 Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 No, that's just due to the user interface elements being reused between both features.

On the items list where it shows the converted files (the fact it says "downloaded", not "converted" is pretty confusing); if I click "remove download" does that delete the recording from my system? Or something else? Again, the term "download" kind of obfuscates things, since I haven't downloaded anything. Will this list fill up with every recording that I convert, with no way of clearing the list without deleting my recordings?

Yes but it's meant to be a history. You don't really need to clear it. The remove menu for this feature won't delete anything. It's just another example of where the user interface needs to be better customized for conversion.
