Help with networking on win 10

Hi

I always struggle setting up a new PC and getting all the networking stuff to work, it used to be so easy with win 7/8.

i run a win 10 pc in the basement with just emby on it and use tightvnc to  access it , transferring files from my main pc is always a nightmare because of windows credentials( i don't get this to work since i never set a password on the server pc and windows credentials always asks for one)

the main question i guess i have is under ---- Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings \ All networks - is it safe to use Turn off Password protected sharing, if i do this everything works perfect but don't know if i am putting my network or anything at risk.

I don't share emby outside of the home if that matters

any other suggestions are greatly appreciated as well since i dont really get any of the networking stuff :)

Thanks

Since u don't share it out of local network it is fine to do it.

Windows 10/11 enforced lot of security stuff on file and print sharing, that's why now its more "complicated" .
