EmbyPenguin 17 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Hi, Love Emby and it is currently running on an Arch based music server. It is used to playback music only. I don't watch movies over Emby... So I have my music library with about 16 000 songs, so I'd say a mid-sized library. What puzzles me is that sometimes Emby fails at reading the included cover or to retrieve it automatically on internet. And this happens on really popular albums, like Spingsteen "Born to run"... Impossible to get the cover from the cover file in the folder or to get it from internet I am almost sure that this probaly due to settings I applied but if someone could give a hint as to where I should start looking ? thanks in advance for your suggestions... Regards.
kikinjo 281 Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Use music brainz and discodogs for covers. It should be fine for 90% of covers.

EmbyPenguin 17 Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 Hi Luke, Hum... I think I mentioned Bruce Springsteen "Born to run". The tracks are included in a folder that has cover art. But Emby displays something else... and if it is indeed something from Bruce, it is NOT the original cover art So I think it fails to retrieve the cover art locally... And does not provide accurate result from what it fetches on Internet. Please consider : those are really details. So not a big deal and I can continue to use Emby quite nicely Regards.

What is your library "Music folder structure:' option set to as you need proper setting utilize folder images. Causing folder view and other tabs to have different images. 1
EmbyPenguin 17 Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 Hi, Ah, that is a setting that I have overlooked. I usually leave it to default which is "Perfectly organized". I just checked and here it saidf "Not organized"... Changed it and rebuilt the metadata. Let's see what happens I'll let you know. Thanks to all for your help... Really love Emby.

The default is actually Other (Unstructured), because if your organization doesn't exactly match the one you pick, then you're going to run into quirks.
EmbyPenguin 17 Posted March 23, 2023 Author Posted March 23, 2023 Hi, I was so convinced that "Perfectly organized" was the defualt setting that I did not paid attention to it last time I had to create my music library again I have changed that setting and thing indeed really much improved. Still not perfect but a real improvement and so I am almost good to go. Next mission is to find out why Emby does not behave as I hope/expect when it sends files to Neutron Renderer. But that is probably a problem on Neutro's side. Not Emby and will be a dedicated post in case I want to find out Thanks a lot for your help and support Regards 1
