Multiple version changes?

It seems like maybe I missed something in an update...has the multiple version drop down been removed, in favor of presenting them as collections? I thought I had noticed things seemed expanded out now, but I hadn't looked into it until I started merging some folders together recently.

I see the naming entry in the KB hasn't changed, and I do see them all, just presented as multiple entries in the list, so enabling automatic collections is now the replacement functionality for what the drop down previously did?

Thanks!

Ah, I see, maybe that's a problem on my side. It seems like some of my titles have un-grouped. Should grouping happen automatically for variations of a title within the same folder, or is that always manual? I don't recall having to do that by hand. If I have to do them by hand, maybe collections would be preferrable.

Thanks!

That was never supported as titles need to be exactly same as folder name for multi-versioning to occur automatically.

Multi-version movies

Multiple versions of the same content can be stored in a single movie folder.

/Movies
  /300 (2006)
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p.mkv
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p-trailer.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 4K.mkv
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 720p.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - extended edition.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - directors cut.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 3D.hsbs.mp4

Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ".

If using the dash method anything following the dash will be what you see in the Emby client app.

Note: The above example includes a 3D version, which is discussed in the 3D Video naming guide.  Also, this feature is primarily designed for multiple qualities of the same item.  It can be used for different "cuts" but there may be some limitations in doing that.

Anyway, an example would tell more details.

Sorry, by variations, that's what I meant, I have multiple variations in a folder per the naming convention, where the title is defined as index 0 if split on "-":

/Alien (1979)/Alien (1979) - Theatrical
/Alien (1979)/Alien (1979) - 4K
/Alien (1979)/Alien (1979) - 4K, HDR

etc, but they are showing up as individual titles instead of collapsing into drop down if I don't manually group them. I didn't think that used to happen.

Oh you know what, I am encompassing the descriptors in parens...I don't think I came up with that idea on my own, maybe I do it as a holdover from Plex. Would that confuse the parser?

should work just fine.
