wizbowes 4 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I've enabled automatic subtitle downloading. However it doesn't do a very good job of not downloading subtitles got english programs even though I have 'Skip if default audio track matches download language'. So I was thinking, would it possible to have downloading subtitles in the Refresh Metadata menu when you edit a program. So where we have None, Local, Missing and All - can we also have an option of Subtitles. I need subtitles infrequently - but currently it's pretty much all or nothing.
Luke 42077 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 they already download when you click the refresh button. also, did you not see the Subtitles tab in the metadata manager?
Abobader 3464 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Good day, What the OP is asking (I think), that if he disable the download subtitles for movies or tv in the subtitle tab settings, and when he refresh at the metadata edit, he like to see an option to download "subtitle" when he do the refresh. My best
wizbowes 4 Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Yes - they do download - however they download for everything. As turning on / off subtitles is a fairly ghastly experience in WMC I was hoping for a way to specifically download subtitles via the web UI only upon my request. I'm presuming the underlying problem is that the video files don't bother to specify the audio track language most times - so the download only subs when audio track doesn't match subs option (which I have enabled) is triggered all the time. I guess the other option would be to ignore downloading of files when the language of the audio track is not specified.
Abobader 3464 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Good day, Well done Luke I just notice it: As the steps: - Select the language for the subtitle. - Click on "Search". - Select the one match your title type by clicking on "+". - Then from the Metadata tab do the refresh or advance refresh and chose the option you like. My best
wizbowes 4 Posted October 26, 2014 Author Posted October 26, 2014 Ahh - brilliant. thanks very much. You have a new life supporter for that.
Scott750 29 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 When I search for subtitles, a long list appears. How do I know which one to select?
Luke 42077 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 When you view all the posters for a movie on the movie db, how do you know which one is right? it's probably the same idea. maybe you could do some experimentation and report your results?
Scott750 29 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Ok I can understand that. I really want the subtitles when a non-English or foreign language section appears in the movie. So I'll try looking to for "forced" subtitles and see if that works.
Luke 42077 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 yea forced or foreign. i do know that open subtitles has no distinct tagging for this so the only way to know is based on the way the user named them. also, you can click on them and see the contents before you download.
