Better search tools, especially for music library

I would like to have better search tools, especially for the music library.
Today i was searching for a specific song by title in the Emby client. I entered the title of the song and sorted the results by songs. I was still being shown results because the album name had the same keyword in it. This limited the results shown and did not show the song(s) I was looking for because of the number of false positives under song sorting

Hi.  What would be your suggested improvement?  Your search was for a very common word so it has a lot of results.  What song were you looking for?

For sorting by song, I would suggest only viewing/sorting by the track title metadata.
For each selection of sorting the results, I sort of expected the behavior would filter the results based on the type of grouping that was selected and the type of metadata.

I was looking to see if I had the song Easy by the Commodores or alternatively the cover by Faith No More.  I know I can simply go into the artist folders and manually go through the albums to find individual tracks, which I ended up doing.

I do understand this is a low priority request.

Okay, I see.  Yeah, there are a log of songs there that don't have any form of "easy" in their title but are there by virtue of being on an album with that in its title.

I agree a match on song title should carry a greater weight under songs tab than a match on album [title] because there is an album tab to prioritise a match on album title (if you needed that). Think that holds true generally for shared member and container (child/parent) properties and search tabs.  I hit the OPs reported 'issue' from time to time as well.

 

Another music search issue....There are instances when an exact match doesnt have higher priority than a sub string match (eg. below)..perhaps more of an issue when searching/playing songs via Alexa. Is this type of closeness weighting even feasible for Emby database [performance]?

A search for the playlists would be great! Currently as I build my playlists to avoid adding duplicates I am opening the playlist file as text and searching. It’s a pain but it works! A simpler way would be a wonderful thing!
