sross44 431 Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 So I just set up my Emby server on unRAID. Have been running Emby for years on Windows. I've created multiple libraries for Emby all of which work but one. Everything is under the same Media share. So /Media/TVShows or Media/Movies etc. and they're all working. My library for DVR Shows which is shows from Sonarr, so Media/Sonarr, loads the movies, but then doesn't recognize anything. It starts to pull everything, then I have to refresh the metadata to show images, then when I go to play the file, it doesn't recognize anything in the folder anymore. And if I restart the server or docker container, all the metadata images are gone etc. It's really really strange. Like I said, all the other libraries are fine. And to add more weirdness to it, the same exact folder plays under Plex. It's recognized by Plex, etc. So I don't know what could possibly be causing this.
Eigeplackter 90 Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 I'm actually in the process of deciding which NAS I'll setup in the forseeable future. Unraid or Truenas. While reasearching the topic I read several information and my 1st guess would be, assuming you run XFS as recommended by Unrad, that the write operation hasnt finished yet. Quote XFS is a journaling file system and, as such, keeps track of changes in a log before committing the changes to the main file system. The advantage is guaranteed consistency of the file system and expedited recovery in the event of power failures or system crashes. Source Meaning the changed files were written to your cache (extra pool) but not yet commited to the array.

So the fact that it can read everything in the folder in Plex, but not in Emby is dumbfounding. I can't figure that out to save my life. Also, I don't have the media going to my cache drive first, it's direct to the array, so everything should be there. Edited March 2, 2023 by sross44
Neminem 1518 Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Can you rescan that library ? And see if it shows up.
sross44 431 Posted March 4, 2023 Author Posted March 4, 2023 It was a permissions issue with the app data folder. Changed those and it’s working now. Tried a bunch…. But that seems to have been the issue. 1

So I deleted the container, reset everything up and made sure that Emby portion of the /appdata folder was setup for read and write. For some reason it wasn't at first. 1
